Denise Vasi joins the show as Randi - a prositute who's being physically abused by her pimp - and who will be a patient of Frankie at PVH.

The way ABC describes it, the storyline is inspired by the Dr. Chuck Tyler / Donna Beck pairing that was penned by AMC Creator Agnes Nixon decades ago... but this time, with a twist. So we'll see...

AMC has hookers on the brain. This story might have been interesting in the 70s with Chuck and Donna but that was partly due to Phoebe, Billy Clyde, Estelle. Donna was well developed character and they don't write them like that anymore. I wouldn't find Frankie having conflict with his parents over falling for a hooker at all believable. Nor do I want to see jealous Cassandra.

Not to play the race card, but Dr. Frank Grant (a black MD) used his karate chops on Tyrone (the black pimp) Tyrone then sold his interest in Donna to Billy Clyde (white pimp) all the while Dr. Chuck Tyler (white MD) was smitten with Donna (white ho) so they kind of covered most of the bases early on. ; ) Gary

I don't think the ''twist'' they mentioned has anything to do with race. I think it's a teaser of what's to come and/or a reference to the also-mentioned uncooperative attitude of the Randi character. Honestly, that never even occurred to me. ~Soaker
