Additional Comments:

Colbie Callat - I love her video of this song.  It's very sweet.  Good dance by Edyta and Alec

Safe - Kelly and Louis!  YAY!

Safe - Mya and Dimitri

Safe - Donny and Kym

Rod Stewart - It's the Same Old Song - Motown, love it.  Great!

Anna and Michael - in Jeopardy

Mark and Lacey in Bottom two

Aaron and Karina Bottom two  After last night's dance I find that hard to believe.

Derek and Joanna - Safe

Ballas -Hough - Good job

Michael and Anna are out

Dance off between Aaron and Karina and Lacey and Mark

Lacey and Mark - Cha Cha -  Judges give them high marks

Aaron and Karina - Jive - Judges give them high marks also.  I think the jive has it.  I'm sad to see Mark and Lacey out because I think they are both a lot of fun.  But I'm happy for Aaron because he really worked so hard to get this right.

I missed the first three weeks of the show so, I guess, I am behind.  As usual, the most exposed celebrity will go to the finals, regardless of their dance talents.

Yet, gotta give Donny kudos as he is not sleeping on the job and trying very hard to come through.  "Then again, he does have an edge beings he has lots of background in dancing on his and Marie's shows of yesterday.

Frankly, I feel the judges are overly kind to Kelly as she is lacking in hip movements and has slow turns.

Now on to Aaron.  The best thing he did was to participate in professional excerise training.  That really helped with his balance and focus.   Thus giving us excellent Jive and Jitter bug talent.  Yet, ya know, he really looks like a ''deer in the headlights'' while awaiting the judges score.   Also, he looks stern .  If he doesn't win or go to the finals he may be very depressed  or angry.   I hope I am wrong.

  • Donny is doing well and, IMO, better than Marie and she had the same background from their show. Still, it is not ballroom as the show keeps telling us but certain dance steps are the same no matter what kind of dancing. Kelly should be the next to go because she isn't as good as the ones who are left. I don't know why they have been easier on her and not on some others. Then there is her fanbase (or her parent's) and that seems to be doing well for her where Aaron's is not no matter how well he has been training and learning his dance routines. I think, too, that the professional excercise training helped him immensely in that Jive and Jitterbug and probably with several other dances. He does, however, always look so scared when he stands up there waiting to hear from the judges. It will be interesting how this will all come out. Only three weeks to go. ~ eom. Linda

Oh I still love old Rod the Bod Stewart, but his age is starting to show (just like mine, lol).  Wished he would have done Maggie May or If You Think I'm Sexy but oh well.

Surprised too that Aaron doesn't have the fan base with his top scores but agree that it might be Karina people are voting against.

Getting tired of Derek here so not impressed with Ballas-Hough.

Kinda sorry to see Mark go, he was a good dancer but had a bad week.

  • I love Mark so I'm bummed. I'm a Rod fan as well - saw him at the Fillmore East more than 30 years ago. I also wish he did Maggie May or Sexy. Maybe Aaron will pick up votes that went to others that are now gone - hope so, he's worth it. eom/WE
  • Rod needs to stick to ''Rod'' music. His Standards CDs were awful and Motown didn't fare any better. I once heard Neil Diamond defend his dreadful Christmas CD by saying that he had earned the right to make a CD of HIS choosing. I guess it doesn't matter that many of these ''older'' singers can't sing outside their zone. What matters is that they feel they've earned a right to indulge themselves. /sb
  • I like watching Rod on a talk show. He has a great personality but the singing could be put aside. Of course if the older singers stick to what made them famous, people don't notice the age as much. I would think Aaron would have more fanbase than he is getting and Karina hasn't been as nasty this year so I'm surprised all the way around. Like I keep saying, people should vote on the dancing and with that he is doing very well. There just is no excuse for Aaron landing in the bottom all the time especially after receiving such high scores the night before. I was thinking the same as W.E. that maybe he will pick up votes from those that left. Ballas-Hough should just stick to their dancing although they have had this band together for several years now. It used to be called 'Almost Amy' or something like that. I think they recently changed the name with this new album of theirs. They must be pleasing some so maybe it was just this song. I didn't care for it or the performance. Mark was just a victim of circumstance this week. I've been wondering if Lacey would have been able to partner him this week, who would have been the second eliminated? ~ eom. Linda

I'm disappointed that Aaron keeps landing in the red. He more than proved himself in performance AND his dance off. Guess he doesn't have that boy band fanbase that others have, and there were boy banders in the audience (not from his brother's band so...). Add to that I don't think folks readily vote for Karina either.

Hope they keep getting top scores from the judges as he has great potential.

  • I haven't read anything negative about Karina. (surprise) I HAVE read nasty comments about Aaron and the word ''skeevy'' comes up a lot. I'll be amazed if he lasts much longer which is a shame because compared to some others, he's Fred Astaire!!!!! /sb
  • Maybe people are remembering his drug years and still are not forgiving him for that. We come back to the same discussion of how the hosts should be reminding us to vote for the best or most improved dancer and NOT for their favorite. Also, changing all voting until after the show and not during the show would help too. Every year we go through this. Don't TPTB listen to any of these forums? ~ eom. Linda
  • Voting should be AFTER the show, not during the show. TPTB don't seem to be hearing us or there wouldn't have been 16 dancers this year, either. Regarding Aaron, the other remarks about him are in reference to drugs. I was not surprised to see him in the bottom after scanning some of the forums. It's too bad, isn't it? /sb

Samantha has a lovely gold gown on and Lacey is back. Anna T. is in the audience.

Encore Dance--Team Tango - Done just as well as they did it last night. Fantastic!

Backstage Interviews.- Donny mentions that he has the flu. In practice he said he was getting it but I guess he actually had it while going through his performance last night which could account for his missteps.

I don't know who Colbie Caillat is but I usually watch for the pro partners to dance anyway. The song wasn't bad and it was nice to see Alec and Edyta dancing together. They did a wonderful dance.

Mark & Derek of their band Ballas-Hough performed their new song, "Move". I love these guys but they should just stick to dancing. Maybe it was just the song and they are really good, but I prefer to see them dance.

When Aaron & Karina are announced in the Bottom three, there is a very surprised look on Aaron's face probably because he got two 10s last night. I sure would have done the same. Even the Judges were surprised.

Rod Stewart performed and was okay. He has never been a favorite of mine but for those who like Rod, I think he did well. I did like the song and the pro partners had a good time with the dance.

It was nice that Tom praised Michael for his improvement and his leading Team Paso in good team spirit and his talks to keep them motivated and focused together as one.

Dance-Off - Mark & Lacey go first. I thought at first that they would perform the routine that Mark would have done with Lacey had she not gotten sick, but he says that the dance is one they worked on two weeks ago when the first Dance-Off started. They perform the CHA-CHA to "I Like To Move It". ~~ Mark has done better. It seemed like he did more athletics than Cha-Cha, although what he did was good. Judges--L-You're back in your comfort zone with Lacey. It was clean, top notch performance. B-The little Cha-Cha-Cha that was there was very good. C-The way you flowed from your tricks back into your dancing was effortless and in top form.

Aaron & Karina--JIVE-"Mess Around"--Aaron thinks he has an advantage with this dance because the judges are deciding his fate and not the people at home. They loved his Jive last night. ~~ A different routine but just as good as he did the night before. That training on his fast footwork really helped him. This was a perfect dance! Judges--B-Can't believe you are in this after last night's excellent performance and this is as good. C-I have to disagree. This was better. L-You’re the Comeback Kid. Last night your Jive was brilliant. Again, right on the money.

I don't blame all three Judges for saying that this was a very hard decision because both men did a superb job and no one is really a loser.

Next week: Couples dance for a spot in the Semifinals. They will do two individual dances--one unlearned Ballroom dance and one unlearned Latin dance from Week 1 to Week 6.

I had a feeling that Mark would go because of his performance last night. I still wonder why Anna T. changed the routine that he worked on for two days with Lacey. I thought the replacement partner is supposed to be just that, a replacement for what the other partner started working on with the celebrity. I didn't envy the judges decision tonight.

  • Thanks for the great recap! I must say that Ballas/Hough should stick to dancing. I always liked Rod Stewart but his voice left him long ago!! /sb
  • Thanks, but lemerba did this one. I just added a few things of my own. I don't understand why these entertainers can't seem to retire when they should? I felt the same way about Frank. His voice didn't stay with him either, IMO. ~ eom. Linda
  • the Ballas/Hough segment showed that they really are very young guys... If I was 30 years younger, this might have appealed to me. When they dance I forget their ages. - Kris
  • I knew going in how weak an act Ballas/Hough were. It's like bubble gum music and I wasn't even interested in their dancing once it started. They play at the lowest common venues (like parks in Callie). Hope that's the last we see of that act. eom/WE
  • To say that Ballas / Hough were ''weak'' is being very kind. They were PU and should keep their day jobs. /sb
