Is there a movie or TV show that you must see over the holidays?

Do you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or another holiday?

What is one of your most cherished memories of the holidays?

What are you doing and where will you be over the holidays?

Make a special wish for all of our posters this holiday season, and hopefully it will come true.

It's hard to believe Christmas is just 3 days away, where did the year go? My special wish for all of you, is that you may survive the economic upheaval that we are going through. Those of us that have jobs, may you keep them, those who do not, may you find one. May you all have a safe and blessed holiday.

1951 Christmas Carol (can't seem to find it as others said below, just saw the 1938 one on Saturday
but I'd like to see the other) and It's a Wonderful Life.

Do you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or another holiday?
Christmas. This year a friend is hosting a Kwanzaa, So I'll go to that.

What is one of your most cherished memories of the holidays?
Mine actually revolve around Thanksgiving, since that is when I see the majority of my family.
I love getting up early with my youthful 85 year old grandmother and watching her cook and bake the entire dinner singlehandedly.

What are you doing and where will you be over the holidays?
At Mom's, having dinner, just a few of us this year, maybe only 3. We may get up early and ride the LIRR (train)
to Manhattan and see the Rockefeller Center tree and Macy's (et al) windows. We did it last year and it was a blast - no crowds if you go early!

Make a special wish for all of our posters this holiday season, and hopefully it will come true.
In addition to the peace, financial security and joy others have wished, I'd love for whoever has soldiers
abroad to be able to see them, safe and sound, over the holidays!

''Happy Christmas (or Hanukkah) to all and to all a good night!''
Thanks, amie! ag

It is sooo incredibly cold. Yesterday was -5 and that's not including the windchill. Today so far is only-1. You're lucky you're in Florida. You may not want to visit Chicago yet.

Is there a movie or T.V show I must see over the holidays? No, not really.

    I celebrate Christmas.

What is one of the most cherished memories of the holidays? When I was a kid every year right after Christmas we would all go to Cleveland to see my grandparents on both sides, and other relatives out there. My parents were originally from Cleveland so I still have relatives out there. Anyway, those were good memories over the holidays. It was fun back then but not so much anymore but that's a long story. I'm not going this year. Last year was a disaster.

What am I doing and where will I be for the holiday season? I'll just be home with my family. It will be me, my parents. My two brothers and sister in law will be over. We'll probably play  video games till it's time to eat and exchange gifts. It's fun.

Make a holiday wish for all the posters and hopefully it will come true. That they all have a fun safe holiday, ho ho ho!!

  • Look on the bright side, Miss Bear, you will have a White Christmas, I've never had one. I'm wearing shorts and flip flops right now, but that was mean, I know. Stay warm and have a Merry Christmas!~amie
  • Ah, we made it to a whopping 3 degrees out yippie! Yeah, I'll be having a white Christmas alright, it's supposed to snow again tomorrow. There's already a lot of snow on the ground. There's a winter weather advisory for tomorrow. I always liked snow.

What is one of your most cherished memories of the holidays? This sounds kind of bad, but... one year I spent about 6 months in Pittsburgh on some work projects and was scheduled to leave around early November. Then near the end, another big project was added to the list and had to be finished before the year's end. I was already sick of being there and with winter weather coming it was not going to get any better. Well, about 5 long work weeks later, I got the $*&# out of there and home for Christmas. It made me really appreciate home, friends and family.

What are you doing and where will you be over the holidays? Charlotte, NC with family and friends.

  • Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer is mandatory TV during the holidays! We have all the Rankin/Bass dvds. I think your Christmas memory is great, sometimes we need a wake up call to appreciate the simple things. Happy Holidays~amie.
  • I was bummed to discover I missed this year's Rudolph broadcast. Mr. Ingy thinks I'm nuts. ~i&b

  • Thanks for your wish, with the economy, keeping our home is a concern. That punch sounds great, everyone is coming to my house on Christmas day, including 8 children, so that will be perfect them. I'll let you know how it turns out. Merry Christmas~amie

Do you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or another holiday?  Christmas

What is one of your most cherished memories of the holidays?  having the whole family together on Christmas Eve... carrying on our family tradition... simple but special.

What are you doing and where will you be over the holidays?  not much.  Family comes to me on Christmas Eve for dinner.  Going to brother's on Christmas Day and then 3 days off, 2 days back to work and then another 5 days off.  No plans on NYE which is fine.  NY Day going to a friends for buffet  and on the 3rd, my mom is taking us all out to dinner for her birthday.  I hope to relax, visit w/ friends, watch TV and eat - in no particular order!  LOL

Make a special wish for all of our posters this holiday season, and hopefully it will come true.  making a wish.... I'd tell you but then it wouldn't come true!

Is there a movie or TV show that you must see over the holidays? A Christmas Carol (the Alistair Sim version)

Do you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or another holiday? We celebrate secular Christmas

What is one of your most cherished memories of the holidays? Seeing the house and tree all decorated and watching the snow fall outside while Mother and her sisters baked cookies in the kitchen in the last days leading up to Christmas

What are you doing and where will you be over the holidays? Home with Mr. Ingy, listening to pretty musice while drinking Mimosas and opening gifts in front of a crackling fire

Make a special wish for all of our posters this holiday season, and hopefully it will come true. That all of us and our loved ones remain safe and secure this holiday season and into the New Year

  • I keep checking for the Alistair Sim version (which according to IMDb is titled Scrooge) but so far no show. I had the end of Wheel Of Fortune on the other day. Pat Sajak said it's his fav, too. He also said he caught a mistake. At the end when Alistair is looking in the mirror he said you can see a stage hand. Now I really want it to play so I can check that out. It should play every year as far as I'm concerned. eom/WE
  • We just saw A Christmas Carol, the George C. Scott version, a few nights ago. The kids enjoyed it. Your relaxing Christmas sounds great, I've got 17 crazy relatives invading my home, it would make a great reality show for sure. Maybe that will be one of my topics one day. Have a great Christmas~amie
  • WE, I have the Alistair Sim version on DVD and it is titled A Christmas Carol, not Scrooge. I don't know why IMDB says that except that a lot of people refer to the story that way (regardless of which version). ~i&b
  • I don't have 17 relatives I like enough to invite them to my home. LOL! ~i&b
  • i&b, I read further. When it was made it was called Scrooge (in the UK) but once it was shown here forever after it was A Christmas Carol. Think I'm gonna buy that dvd. eom/WE
  • Trust me, not all 17 relatives are likeable, I do it for my 3 children and their Christmas memories, plus it give me a chance to play the martyr, which I love to do.~amie

    Hi Amie,

Is there a movie or TV show that you must see over the holidays?  I used to watch 'It's A Wonderful Life' every year.  I didn't have to plan it.....it would just be on and I would watch.  Not so much anymore.  I guess I'm over it.
Do you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkh or another holiday? Christmas

What is one of your most cherished memories of the holidays? My Dad taking us to Krispy Kreme after church and then we could come home and open the rest of the presents.

What are you doing and where will you be over the holidays?  My sister and brother -in-law will be staying with us, and we will go to MIL's house for dinner.  But she is having pork instead of turkey this year, and I'm already disappointed.

Make a special wish for all of our posters this holiday season, and hopefully it will come true. I hope that everyone makes it through the year financially sound.

  • Krispy Kreme has the best doughnuts! Too bad there are only 2 left in Tampa, and both are a bit of a drive from my house. I use to love to get them when the Hot Light was on. Merry Christmas~amie

Is there a movie or TV show that you must see over the holidays? I always try to see It's A Wonderful Life but I also look for specials. This year was the San Francisco Ballet's The Nutcracker and I'll be watching Ballet Shoes on PBS.

Do you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or another holiday? Christmas.

What is one of your most cherished memories of the holidays? Going to bed as a child with not even a decoration in the house or the tree. Santa brought it all. Whoosh when we woke up it was magical. Oh the trouble my parents went through each Christmas Eve. Love them for it and God Bless them. Took my breath away each year.

What are you doing and where will you be over the holidays? My brothers will come here on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning we spend with Bitt's family then to my sister Teresa's. Then we all travel to my sister Helen's for Christmas dinner. Then on Saturday is our annual family dinner at Poopaloop's and to see this year's Yay Productions movie.

Make a special wish for all of our posters this holiday season, and hopefully it will come true. I wish health, wealth, happiness and peace!

Thank you for the topics Amie - great questions.

  • My mother's family did the same thing -- kids went to bed Christmas Eve with no Christmas tree or decorations, then woke up Christmas morning to see the tree and house in all its splendor. Mother said she used to wonder why her mom always fell asleep on Christmas Day. LOL! I don't think kids today have the patience to wait so long. It's not part of our holiday culture anymore. ~i&b
  • My sisters did the same for their children. We always got to see Chris (Poopaloop's dad) when he first saw his tree and gifts for the first time. The look on his face - ahhhh. My parents had five little faces with that look. eom/WE
  • What a beautiful Christmas memories, W.E. What work it must have been for your parents, and a miracle that none of you woke up during the process. Happy Holidays~amie
  • Indeed. I leaned the truth about Santa by getting up for a glass of water when I was very little and seeing my parents putting the Santa gifts under the tree. I knew they were Santa's gifts because Mother always wrapped them in Santa paper which was supposed to be how the kids could tell which ones were from him. What a bummer! ~i&b
  • I had a true and strong belief system. Once I heard mom and dad sorting and I thought they were helping Santa and I fell back to sleep. The kicker. (this proves I believed). I often noticed that Santa wrote just like MOM yet I still believed. eom/WE
