Child of the 80's here so most of the things from the 80's were a big deal to me. At the time, if not forever. I was 11 when they started and 21 when they ended. As usual, I will post my answers before reading the others.

Movie?  No way just one. *Fast Times...* was totally awesome but *Valley Girl* was an even better to me and my friends.

TV Show *All My Children* was great in the 80's. Its probably the reason many of us still watch today even though it is barely a shell of its former self. *Cheers* was great and most know the words to that song!

Break out star Madonna, so cool, still love her

Band / Singer If we are going strictly 80's I was a fan of INXS, Duran Duran, The Go Go's and David Lee Roth's Van Halen. But for all time favorites that started in the 80's.....REM, no contest.

Fad / Fashion Kind of had the Duran Duran hair for a while. It was a fancier version of the mullet.

Significant Event Going to Georgia Tech was awesome, I even graduated too!

I'd have to include my high school / sometimes in college girlfriend. We dated for a long time.

First car, first date, *gettin it on!*, proms, the whole nine yards.

  • I loved Valley Girl, I forgot about that movie, it was the first movie I saw Nick Cage in and the one I liked the best, LOL! Loved INXS too, such a shame what happened to Michael, he was talented~amie

Okay, enough, it's my turn now!

WHAT IS A FAVORITE MOVIE FROM THE 1980'S.
I'm a bit shallow, but I will always watch "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", wasn't the up and coming Sean Penn great in it? Another favorite is "Terms of Endearment". I know how it will end, but I cry every time.

WHAT IS A FAVORITE TV SHOW FROM THE 1980'S AND DO YOU REMEMBER ANY WORDS FROM IT'S THEME SONG?(unless it was instrumental)
I was a big fan of "Cheers",especially in the Diane years. "Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name".

WHO WAS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE BREAK OUT STARS FROM THE 1980'S.
Not an actress, not my favorite celebrity, but the break out star of the 80's was Madonna! I'm not into her singing, but that woman knows how to work it and make the $$$$$! She still looks hot at 50!

WHAT WAS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE BAND/ SINGER, AND WHAT WAS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS BY THEM.
U2, I will always love this band. I have followed them since 1983. My favorite song from the 80's by them was "Sunday Bloody Sunday" but they are so great, it's hard to narrow it down.

WAS THERE A CRAZY FAD YOU FOLLOWED OR FASHION THAT YOU WORE IN THE 1980'S?
I totally did the ripped sweatshirt flashdance thing. I think I wore leg warmers too.

WHAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EVENTS THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE 1980'S
I graduated HS in 1985 and went to the University of Florida for the next four year. Some of what took place during my college years is never to be mentioned again. I am after all, a mother of 3 who will not do the things I did, LOL!

  • I saw Fast Times At Ridgemont High recently for the first time. Mainly because I'm a huge Sean Penn fan (don't tell Johnny).eom/WE
  • I've actually never seen Fast Times at Ridgemont High or Animal House come to think of it... - kris
  • Now it's my turn -- U2, one of the all-time great bands of the '80s. So many classic tunes! Love them. ~i&b
  • GREAT ANSWERS! grad HS in 86 so naturally we had a lot of the same stuff DxB

WHAT WAS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE BAND/ SINGER, AND WHAT WAS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS BY THEM. The Talking Heads, though I think they started in the 70s they made it big in the 80s.  ''Girlfriend Is Better'' is one of my favorites, along with ''Burning Down the House.''

WAS THERE A CRAZY FAD YOU FOLLOWED OR FASHION THAT YOU WORE IN THE 1980'S? No, I'm proud to say!  I skipped all that weird fashion and huge hair.  I dressed in basic, classic outfits and wore my hair long and straight.  Thankfully, when I see photos from back then I look completely normal.  Not everyone can say that!

WHAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EVENTS THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE 1980'S I had a long relationship that was one of the best periods of my life.  The 80s were a happy time for me up until 1989; that year sucked.

Psycho Killer, Take me to the river, We're on a road to nowhere, Letting the days go by. Thanks for reminding me of a great band! And of course the always sensible and cool I&B, would not indulge in the garish 80's fashions! Take care~amie

Meg Ryan (LOVED her in Top Gun)

WHAT WAS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE BAND/ SINGER, AND WHAT WAS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS BY THEM.
"So Lonely" by The Police.  I also loved Sting's first two solo records.  "Sister Moon" from his Nothing Like the Sun album is beautiful!

WAS THERE A CRAZY FAD YOU FOLLOWED OR FASHION THAT YOU WORE IN THE 1980'S?
That should read "Was there a craxy fad you DIDN'T follow?  LOL!  In 8th grade I wore some weird neon stuff, fingerless gloves and black lace scarves in my hair a la Madonna.  In high school I wore stirrup pants, Forenza sweaters, Reeboks, and Guess jeans (the ones tapered so much they required a zipper at the ankle).  I had one pair of acid-washed Guess jeans.   Fortunately, I was a little too young for the enormous shoulder pad fad to affect me.

WHAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EVENTS THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE 1980'S
