All My Children Discussion Group
Cat's hair was different. Lovely for a change but I like it flowing. Once again she'd look good in a sack but I did not like her dress tonight
Judges: Tabitha/Napoleon, Mary, Nigel
Each of the seven couples will dance two routines tonight.
Jessica/Will: JIVE
Whoa, WILL, wow. Great couple.
T&N: felt the fight - brought it to the next level.
Mary: nailed the trick but missed connections - good performance.
Nigel: Will had great balance - weight in right place. Jess a little lazy.
Comfort & Thayne: BROADWAY
This was danced well but lacked in concept and context (for me).
T&N: Good match. Felt chemistry. Flirtiness was nice.
Mary: Great new partnership. Proud of Comfort - both could have been bigger.
Nigel: aggression and passion not there. We need to stop the hip hop references this far in - not good enough.
Khourtni & Matt: HIP HOP
Loved this routine. He was great, she was in and out (he so outshined her)
T&N: Good job. Matt surprised but not good enough.
Mary: has to entertain and I must feel something and I didn't. Liked it.
Nigel: Nothing to get hold of.
Chelsea & Mark: JAZZ/CONTEMPORARY
So good together - hit all the pops.
T&N: muaah - no matter what you tell a story.
Mary: Loved it. Haven't taken a wrong turn yet.
Nigel: it just worked. First couple tonight with a connection. Magic.
Kherington & Twitch: PASO DOBLE
Tough, passionate...Twitch...wowie.
T&N: Twitch the matador came out half way through. Slow build.
Mary: full of passion. Just okay.
Nigel: very entertaining. She demanded a lot and not sure if Twitch delivered.
Katee & Joshua: CONTEMPORARY
So powerful, so Mia, so great!!
T&N: OMG! Ridiculous, I loved it. Owned the stage.
Mary: absolutely - haven't messed up once. Monumental stillness.
Nigel: One of 3 or 4 couples of the season.
Courtney & Gev: HIP HOP
Gotta go with the flow - this was stupid and ridiculous (loved it)
T&N: Did great. She was so good. Gev needs to be playful.
Mary: feeling 50/50. Gev didn't hit hard enough.
Nigel: Fun and funky but funkier than hip hop.
HALFWAY mark. I'm noticing a split (talentwise) in some couples. One out performing the other. Not upstaging - just proving they are the better of the two. Should be interesting as some go and others must hook up with someone new.
Jessica & Will: LYRICAL JAZZ
Whoa it just got so HOT in here!!
T&N: choreography so clever. Will has great lines and is amazing (mmmm hmmmm and shirtless doesn't hurt). Jessica is holding him down (a separation??)
Mary: talent is flame, flame is genius and that was fire (made sense to Mary, heh). On the hot tamale train.
Nigel: Fabulous. Jess stop worrying. Absolutely beautiful.
Comfort & Thayne: WALTZ
BIG difference. Smooth and flowing. Acting!!
T&N: really thoroughly enjoyed it. Like an angel.
Mary: Loved it. Could have more power. Comfort like a catterpillar to a butterfly.
Nigel: beautiful choreography, smooth. Comfort looks so beautiful - a ballroom queen.
Khourtni & Matt: MAMBO
He is so much better than she is. I like her but she's weaker than the rest (IMO). New partner needed...stat.
T&N: hot and cold. Opening was off. Matt needs to get down and grimey.
Mary: Khourtni was so hot but not smokin'. No chemistry.
Nigel: weight too far back. Needs to be sharper but good routine.
Chelsea & Mark: FOX TROT
These two had 2 great routines!!
T&N: this was great. a pleasure to watch.
Mary: you guys pulled it off. It was elegant and classy.
Nigel: felt Mark was uncomfortable. Chelsea - fabulous.
Twitchington: CONTEMPORARY
This was so good halfway I cursed and said holy sh!t!! Incredible. Best routine of the night. The only other one that could beat Mia for the season was HER'S!!! Last week's opening #.
T&N: awesome X 6!! Totally committed. Moments told the story.
Mary: Whew, Mia outdid herself. Powerful, dynamic...absolutely believable.
Nigel: believed it - couldn't stop watching. One of the top 3 couples.
Katee & Joshua: WEST COAST SWING
Not a fan of Benji or his sis Lacey so they are in my Mia book. That said this was fun and sassy. Fabulous ending but Benji can't stay so safe if he's to continue. J&K did a fine job.
T&N: such a fun number. Loved the characters.
Mary: wooohoooo. A great routine and you executed it. Tremendous.
Nigel: both can adapt to all styles. Different character than first #.
Courtney & Gev: BROADWAY
She is always so believeable that yes all eyes are mostly on her. He needs to step it up (if he stays).
T&N: amazing. totally believable. Broadway is Gev's niche.
Mary: absolutely dynamic enough. Strong and believable.
Nigel: underdogs. This style is perfect for this couple.
W.E.'s COMMENTS: I wasn't thrilled with the Broadway choices tonight so I hope that doesn't hurt one partner in both. I really do think this is a turning point and we see weaknesses as some partners improve and get stronger.
If it were up to me Khourtni and Gev would go tomorrow (meaning Matt and Courtney would have to be bottom, too). There's a possiblity that Jessica and Will could be bottom three but at this point it's hard to tell since some who were weak really pulled it out for #2 dance and others did the opposite.
I think Chelsea/Mark, Twitchington and Katee/Joshua are all safe. Thayne is a fine dancer but can he hold up next to Twitch, Will and Joshua?

Props seemed to be the big thing tonight. I loved the Lyrical Jazz with Jessica and Will. That dance I couldn't keep my eyes off of it! I loved the movements with the shirt. The dance with the bed was innovative as well. I thought both couples did well in those dances, even Jessica was much better.
I loved the Paso too! In the Paso, the woman is supposed to be the Cape, not the Matadoress but Kherington played the part very well!
Lifts and lifts with tricks were also big tonight. I thought the lift with the roll through Will's arms that Jessica did in their Jive was great; the lift and angellike movements that Comfort and Thayne did in their Smooth Waltz made the dance more beautiful than it already was; and the lifts that Mark and Chelsie did made for a graceful Foxtrot.
Chelsie & Mark's Jazz/Contemporary was cute and clever and the Mambo that Khourtni & Matt did was great but I agree with the judges that it could have had more passion. I liked Katee & Joshua's West Coast Swing a lot better than their Contemporary although I think they danced it very well. It was a very good routine, it just didn't do anything for me.
I liked Courtney & Gev's Broadway number but did not care for Thayne & Comfort's Broadway routine. I also didn't care for either Hip-Hop routine this time although I think each couple did well trying to do something out of their own style.
Since I had seen the first dances by all couples by the time of the Results show, I did watch it but got interrupted and did not see their solo dances. So I know who left but will watch the solos tomorrow and make a comment on the Results topic after I have seen them. At this point the other day, I thought that it was going to be Comfort & Thayne going.

**For me - Katee & Joshua can do no wrong, my fave couple by a mile.
**My next couples (dance-wise) are Courtney/Gev (loved her in the hiphop, I thought she brought it!
and she outshines him a bit), then Chelsea/Mark.
**I enjoy Twitchington (performance-wise and chemistry-wise, which is off the charts) but soon his
weaknesses with non hip hop styles will become even more obvious as more dancers go. Kherington is wonderful.
**Will is just awesome - could watch him all day. Espec if he is shirtless - {{{drool}}}. Jessica fades for me.
**Comfort will go soon. Although she grew accdg to the jidges, she sticks out like a sore thumb for me
- that said, I've never seen a solo female hip hop dancer like her - she's amazing.
**Thane - please STOP SMILING. Does that plastered on smile bother anyone else???? It's analogous to
nails on a blackboard for me. I'd vote him off just for the smile (he's a decent dancer.)
**Khourtni/Matt were kinda awful - not in synch espec. the 1st dance.
Well, that's my 20 cents. Anyone watching America's Best Dance Crew? That's another fun show
(for those who like hip hop) on MTV.

Hi W.E.~
Thanks for this recap of a very long show. Have they set a record with 14 dances in one show? I suppose the good part was that it wasn't done in warp speed as was done on AI.
IMPRESSIONS
1) Some partners are obviously looking stronger then others so I expect to see another couple separated tonight with another new coupling next week. I know that with certain performances, my eye was definitely drawn to one of the performers, not both.
2) Nigel seemed particularly critical and I heard some ''Simonesque'' type comments from him which is distasteful to me. And, we get his viewpoint regarding Jessica!!!
3) Tabitha was so picky that she would have noticed a hangnail!!!! It seemed that she went out of her way to find fault. JMO
4) I didn't like Cat's hair, dress(ick), or makeup. She's so classy that she's allowed a mistake once in a while. I forgive her. (LOL)
5) I'm really enjoying some of the new dances this year and choreographers. Love all the variety.
Chelsie/Mark - LOVED this couple and their Jazz & Foxtrot - great partners! - SAFE
Kherington/Twitch - Liked the Paso Doble but LOVED their Contemporary - how cool was THAT!!!! - SAFE
Katee/Joshua - Loved their Contemporary - SAFE
Jessica /Will - Liked the Jive & the Lyrical Jazz was HOT! - hope Jessica doesn't have to dance - SAFE (?)
Courtney/Gev - Enjoyed their Broadway ''On The Town'' - I thought they were ''in character'' - (possibly in jeopardy due to Gev)
Comfort/Thayne - Liked the Smooth Waltz - so graceful (both in jeopardy?)
Khourtni/Matt -Didn't care for either dance - (in jeopardy due to Khourtni)
PS: Don't you just love Mia sitting in the audience accepting her kudos? It sure beats her being on the panel. Btw, am I the only person who finds Mary funny???
