I have to be honest, not having a young girl in my home or boys who are interested in Miley Cyrus, I had no clue as to who she was. In fact not too long ago I had to google who Hannah Montana was because I thought Miley and Hannah were two different people.
The only thing I did know, was that Miley was Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter and they were on a TV show together as father and daughter. Billy Ray Cyrus, from what I knew was the guy that made the one hit song and then disappeared off the music charts.
So recently, having a subscription to EW, I saw pictures of BRC with his daughter. They sort of made me go ick. Then with all the recent news about Ms Cyrus posing for Vanity Fair, I saw the pictures of her, and of her and her DAD, and I went ick.
Sooooooooooo...I'm asking you, and those with young children who are interested in this person, what is your take on this ''couple'' and what do you think of the recent photos in Vanity Fair?
I probably won't be able to get back to you for a while but I really would appreciate knowing your opinion.
My 5 yr old daughter really likes Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus. Her music pretty "bubble gum" to me, but the beat is fun and the lyrics send a good message to kids who are listening. I should know, because although I cannot understand what Miley is singing, my daughter can and has learned all the words to her favorite songs.
I have seen only one of the photos on TV. I do not find that one distasteful, but do I want my daughter seeing it? No. Her young mind wouldn't understand.

Message: I was in my local Wal*Mart yesterday looking around, particularly for capri's and shorts and what do I see? Loads of Hannah Montana shorts and capri's along with tee shirts, etc. They filled two sections. I then walked over to the toy section to buy my 3 1/2 nephew a few books and again there are rows of Hannah Montana toys - everything had her mark on them. I have two young nieces that love her so I tuned into one of the shows and I didn't see anything great although I am not in their age range (darn LOL).
I never really had paid attention to her until cable news started showing those pictures constantly. The one that bothers me the most is the one with her father. No one can tell me that wasn’t supposed to look sensual. That’s just creepy and I don’t believe that her parents didn’t realize it.
If she was trying to reach an older crowd it still didn’t make sense. So many of these young girls end up doing stupid things…even with parents who are supposedly guiding them.I think since her father is a has-been, he’ll do whatever it takes to get attention for her, which means more money. Shame on him.

Message: I have mixed feelings. With a 6 year old who looks up to MS. I am outraged that she never thought about her fans...but I think if I did not have a daughter who looked up to her...I don't think it would of bothered me as much. ..although I did have to buy Vic sneakers today & I did. There was Hannah Montana sneakers & they had Vic's size & was in my price range..I just could not buy them...I know if this did not happen I would of suprised Vic w/ them.
I think it's just much ado about nothing. I don't see anything wrong with the pictures, either one of them. The one with the sheet - not much different than the DRAPE we wore when taking our Senior pics. It's not a sexual pose, nothing is showing. Would be wonderful as a personal photo but I do think it should probably NOT be in a national magazine only because of those that will see it as provocative... but then again, if someone is looking for something provocative, they could have found it in almost anything. I guess it's all in how you look at something. Would there have been the same hoopla if Miley had been wearing a bikini? or maybe a nightgown? Heck, I think if Miley had been wearing a flannel granny nighty, there would be those that would STILL think it was provocative.
Do I think the photos are distasteful - NO! Do I think they should have put the pictures that could so easily be misinterpreted of a 15 yr old in a national magazine? - NO...

Message: My two granddaughters, aged 9 and 11, think she's 'all that and a bag of chips' so I was quite disappointed when I heard her sing for the first time. She was okay, but nothing special. I haven't seen any of the VF pictures, nor do I want to, but from what you have said, I hope my granddaughters are not subjected to them. The apologies are an afterthought ... the controversy has already been put out there ... and there is no such thing as bad PR, so they say. It's quite possible this is a PR ploy.

Message: Having a daughter who will be 12 next month and who likes Miley/Hannah I certainly wouldn't want her seeing those pictures. I don't think they were very tasteful. I saw them on television the other morning. I really didn't think she would have done these types of pictures. I do like her show, I think it's cute, but like I said I certainly don't want my daughter seeing the pictures of her half dressed.

Message: She's overrated as a singer and overexposed. She's everywhere. She's ridiculously rich and I just don't get it.
As for the VF photos, her parents were at the photo shoot. She's 15. What were they thinking?
