1. What is one of your favorite movies that centers around baseball, or any other sport?
I liked Brian's Song. In fact, I was taking piano lessons at the time and I learned how to play the theme music for the movie on my piano.

2. If you could be a professional athlete, what sport would you want to play? Are you good at any sports?
I'm not good at sports but I was pretty good at swimming when I was younger. I won first place for swimming when I was at summer camp. It's the one and only time in my life when I won anything for a sports contest. I was so proud of that blue ribbon.

3. Do you think celebrities and athletes have an obligation to be good role models, or do you think we need to separate the person from the talent and just enjoy the entertainment.
Yes, I do think that they have a responsibility to be good role models. However, I give exemption for the younger ones who haven't figured it out yet.

4. Is there a famous person, past or present, whose life story would make a good biographical movie? If so, which actor do you think would be good in the role?
Lance Armstrong is a sports hero of mine. Brad Pitt perhaps?

5. With so many band from 70's and 80's reuniting, is there a band that you would like to see if given the chance. Is there a band from the past that you wish would reunite?
Diana Ross and the Supremes.

6. Do you believe that George W. Bush is the worst president in US history? If not, then who do you think has been the worst president so far?
George Bush is the worst president in my lifetime. I'm not sure if he is the worst in US history.

    2. If you could be a professional athlete, what sport would you want to play? Are you good at any sports? I was a gymnast and tournament tennis player.

    3. Do you think celebrities and athletes have an obligation to be good role models, or do you think we need to separate the person from the talent and just enjoy the entertainment. Yes, I do.  If they are going to be in the public eye, they should present themselves as best as they can.  If they didn't want to be in the public eye, they shouldn't have strived to be famous.

    4. Is there a famous person, past or present, whose life story would make a good biographical movie? If so, which actor do you think would be good in the role? I think I'd like to see Paul Newman's life.  Probably Brad Pitt in the role.

    5. With so many band from 70's and 80's reuniting, is there a band that you would like to see if given the chance. Is there a band from the past that you wish would reunite?  Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Queen.

    6. Do you believe that George W. Bush is the worst president in US history? If not, then who do you think has been the worst president so far? He's damned close.

  • Brad Pitt could totally play Paul Newman, who else is that gorgeous? I'm a big Fleetwood Mac fan as well, it would be great if they toured.~amie

    1. What is one of your favorite movies that centers around baseball, or any other sport?  Bull Durham

    2. If you could be a professional athlete, what sport would you want to play? Are you good at any sports?  I'd probably play golf.  I played soccer and softball as a kid, but pretty much sucked at both.  LOL!

    3. Do you think celebrities and athletes have an obligation to be good role models, or do you think we need to separate the person from the talent and just enjoy the entertainment.  It kind of depends.  I feel sorry for people who have the spotlight thrust upon them against their will.  But media whores like Shaquille O'Neal or Paris Hilton, who clearly just like to see their names in print, should try to do a better job at being decent human beings.

    4. Is there a famous person, past or present, whose life story would make a good biographical movie? If so, which actor do you think would be good in the role?   I'm reading a book about the lives of presidential children and the first person who comes to mind is Alice Roosevelt Longworth, Teddy's oldest daughter.  She was very outspoken, controversial and often unkind (kind of like the Kathy Griffin of the political scene) regarding public figures.  She led a very interesting, long life.  I'd cast Maggie Gyllenhaal in the role.

    5. With so many band from 70's and 80's reuniting, is there a band that you would like to see if given the chance. Is there a band from the past that you wish would reunite?  Well, The Police and Van Halen have already made two of my dreams come true.  You know what would be funny?  A Wham reunion!  Andrew Ridgeley just disappeared from the face of the earth!  Musically, it wouldn't be too thrilling, though.

    6. Do you believe that George W. Bush is the worst president in US history? If not, then who do you think has been the worst president so far?   There is no question!  W. is by far the worst.  I can't even think of any president who could possibly be comparable in terms of pure stupidity and awfulness.

  • Wow, Maggie's a dead ringer for Alice Roosevelt! I would love to see Van Halen too, especially now the David Lee Roth is back. I never liked Van Halen without him~amie

Waterboy is my favorite movie that centers around a sport. It was funny. Maybe, I'll go watch it tonight.

I love baseball, I know everything about baseball, grew up watching it, love the White Sox, but I suck at playing it. To answer the question I suck at sports and wouldn't want to be an athlete.

I don't expect anything out of any celebrity. I don't expect them to be good role models. Nothing they do surprises me. However, I expect more from athletes. There is no room in baseball for steroids. It's not fair to the other players who worked hard to get where they are. It's cheating. I hate it.

Kurt Cobain might be a person whose life might make a good biographical movie.

I would have loved to see Alice in Chains get together but Layne Staley is dead. G'N'R would be next. The original G'N'R. All original 5 members.

George Bush is the worst president of my lifetime no doubt. I think JFK was worse in that he got us involved in Vietnam. I also think LBJ was worse because he tried to get my dad in Vietnam. I wouldn't be here if that happened.

    3. Do you think celebrities and athletes have an obligation to be good role models, or do you think we need to separate the person from the talent and just enjoy the entertainment.  I think we should all practice the art of being good role models at all times, but I don't believe celebrities have an obligation beyond that of any of the rest of us.  I believe in separation from the person and the talent.

    4. Is there a famous person, past or present, whose life story would make a good biographical movie?  Lucille Ball If so, which actor do you think would be good in the role?  Debra Messing

    5. With so many band from 70's and 80's reuniting, is there a band that you would like to see if given the chance.  The Eagles Is there a band from the past that you wish would reunite?  I kinda saw The Beatles reunite when we recently saw The Fab Four.  They put on a wonderful show.

  • WELCOME BACK!! There is a biopic (early years rior to I Love Lucy) of Lucille Ball starring Frances Fisher and Maurice Benard (of GH). The story isn't great (needed more of Lucy/Desi as we knew them) but the performances are.eom/WE
  • I'd love to see The Eagles as well! Debra Messing is a good choice for Lucy, but who could ever really play Lucy? Glad to have you back, I'm happy that you had a great time, but we did miss you~amie

    1. What is one of your favorite movies that centers around baseball, or any other sport?

    My kind of question.

For golf, there is no other...Caddyshack

    For football, I'll go cornball...Rudy

For baseball, my favorite has been the ladies'...A League of Their Own

For basketball...they all suck, even Hoosiers

    2. If you could be a professional athlete, what sport would you want to play?

    That's easy....Pro golfer

Are you good at any sports?

If I have done anything well I have been a good athlete. I played a lot of sports growing up. Golf and basketball are my best. I have shot under par, made a hole in one, and even dunked during a game. I also love to snow ski and can tolerate water skiing. In organized competitions I have won a camp tennis tournament, played every position in little league baseball, threw a no-hitter, hit a home run or two, played QB in fraternity intramural football, played all positions in soccer, ran some track, high jumped, and swam but hated it.

Safe to say playing sports were my thing.

    3. Do you think celebrities and athletes have an obligation to be good role models, or do you think we need to separate the person from the talent and just enjoy the entertainment.

What a great way to say it, SEPERATE the person from the talent and enjoy the entertainment. Although some, like Tiger Woods, are excellent role models. But still, nobody is perfect.

    4. Is there a famous person, past or present, whose life story would make a good biographical movie? If so, which actor do you think would be good in the role?

Elvis comes to mind but no actor can touch his charisma.

    5. With so many band from 70's and 80's reuniting, is there a band that you would like to see if given the chance. Is there a band from the past that you wish would reunite?

My band from the 80's still goes on...REM.

    6. Do you believe that George W. Bush is the worst president in US history? If not, then who do you think has been the worst president so far?

Geesh, any Bush haters here?? Such tolerance for the murdering extremists, such hatred for the President of the country, I don't get it and I don't want to. He was so bad he was re-elected, makes a lot of sense.

Smilin' peanut head from Plains, GA wins my vote!

  • Caddyshack is a classic! I can't believe I didn't think of A League of Their Own, that was a great movie as well. And I agree, Tiger is a great role model, you never hear a negative thing about him~amie
  • Tiger drops an *F* bomb or two when he hits a bad shot but that's about it. DxB
  • I LOVE Rudy and Hoosiers. All Tiger has proven is he's normal when he drops a bomb. No different than most folks. I'm gonna miss seeing him out there but it sure will shake things up a bit to see who might rise up not having to play against him.eom/WE
  • Since he's been gone the winner has been the one who has puked the least on his spikes, something Tiger never does. DxB

    2. If you could be a professional athlete, what sport would you want to play? Are you good at any sports? Baseball.  I haven't played for years. I was o.k. as a kid I guess.

    3. Do you think celebrities and athletes have an obligation to be good role models, or do you think we need to separate the person from the talent and just enjoy the entertainment. I do think celebrities and athletes have an obligation to present themselves as decent people.  I would like to just enjoy their talent but it's very hard, i.e., Mel Gibson and Michael Richards.  After they went on their tirades I had no use for them.

    4. Is there a famous person, past or present, whose life story would make a good biographical movie? If so, which actor do you think would be good in the role? James Cagney. I can't think of someone great at the moment (he'd have to be great) to assume the role.

    5. With so many band from 70's and 80's reuniting, is there a band that you would like to see if given the chance. Is there a band from the past that you wish would reunite? I love Bon Jovi!

    6. Do you believe that George W. Bush is the worst president in US history? If not, then who do you think has been the worst president so far? Yes, so far, he's the worst IMO.

  • I know how you feel about Mel Gibson and Michael Richards, it's hard to see them in the same light after those tirades. Another one, Woody Allen, whose movies I adored, yet now I can't get pass the marrying Soon-Yi thing. He was a father figure in her life for goodness sakes.~amie
  • If they ever make a Cagney biopic I bet they cast a powerhouse unknown. Sure hope they do.eom/WE

    1. What is one of your favorite movies that centers around baseball, or any other sport? There are so many but #1 has GOT to be Field Of Dreams. For golf I LOVE The Greatest Game Ever Played.

    2. If you could be a professional athlete, what sport would you want to play? Are you good at any sports? I was a gymnast so that would be my first choice. Golf would be my second. As far as team sports I'm okay but as you see I like playing sports where I'm my only teammate.

    3. Do you think celebrities and athletes have an obligation to be good role models, or do you think we need to separate the person from the talent and just enjoy the entertainment. Sadly, if they make a mark in their chosen field they're going to be role models whether they want to or not. We need to separate the person from the celeb but that's not easy. Do they have an obligation? No...BUT...once it's thrust upon them, they might want to consider how best to utilize.

    4. Is there a famous person, past or present, whose life story would make a good biographical movie? If so, which actor do you think would be good in the role? I've always wanted to see Jimmy Cagney's life story brought to the screen. Over the years it's been rumored to be in the works and then nothing. I'd say someone like Robert Downey Jr. could handle the role but it's a doozy. Actor, singer, dancer - he did it all and he did it well.

    5. With so many band from 70's and 80's reuniting, is there a band that you would like to see if given the chance. Is there a band from the past that you wish would reunite? I've always liked The Byrds. They disbanded so many years ago BUT we've seen all the originals in their new bands over the years PLUS somewhere there's a band (with Roger McQuinn) still touring.

    6. Do you believe that George W. Bush is the worst president in US history? If not, then who do you think has been the worst president so far? I DO believe he's the worst and history will not be kind to him.

  • Robert Downy Jr would be a great choice to play Cagney. Downey was brilliant as Chaplin and he could do the part better than anyone else I can think of!, Great choice, take care~amie
  • I adored Chaplin and was thrilled RDJr played him to an Oscar nod. Loved they include Charlie at the end. Lovely man and fabulous actor portraying him.eom/WE
  • I absolutely love Chaplin and I haven't even seen this movie. It's on my list. (The Kid is one of the best movies I've EVER seen). MM
  • ok so Caddyshack is not the ONLY golf movie, I thought *Bagger Vance* captured the essence of the game as well as *Dead Solid Perfect*. I did not see *The Greatest Game...* but I know the story. No movies were a worse representation than *Tin Cup* and *Happy Gilmore*. DxB
  • MM The Kid and Modern Times - love them both. DxB, I finally saw Bagger Vance two days ago. FYI, Greatest Game is Disney but actor Bill Paxton's eye (as director) for the game is what makes it worth seeing as well as performances specifically by Shia LeBeouf and Stephen Dillane. I can't describe what Paxton does with the shots but I think you'd appreciate it. All other golf movies pale in comparison plus the time period for this and BV bring the sport home. eom/WE

I'll be the first to answer my own questions.

    1. What is one of your favorite movies that centers around baseball, or any other sport? I really love "Field of Dreams". It's a beautifully written and well acted movie.

    2. If you could be a professional athlete, what sport would you want to play? Are you good at any sports?
I would want to be a figure skater, they look so elegant and graceful. Unfortunately, I'm not good at any sport.

    3. Do you think celebrities and athletes have an obligation to be good role models, or do you think we need to separate the person from the talent and just enjoy the entertainment.
Although the millions they get paid are due to "we the public's" interest in them, I think we need to separate the person from the talent. We need to find our role models among the people we interact with everyday.

    4. Is there a famous person, past or present, whose life story would make a good biographical movie? If so, which actor do you think would be good in the role?
Don't throw tomatoes, but I think Hitler's life story would make a fascinating movie. How the events in his life shaped him into the evil monster that he became. I think Kevin Spacey would be up to the challenge. I also think the life of Edgar Allen Poe would make a great film. I'd pick Johnny Deep for that role.

    5. With so many band from 70's and 80's reuniting, is there a band that you would like to see if given the chance. Is there a band from the past that you wish would reunite?
I'd like to see Roger Waters reunite with the rest of Pink Floyd. They are better together than they are apart, but I don't see it happening.

    6. Do you believe that George W. Bush is the worst president in US history? If not, then who do you think has been the worst president so far?
Yes, and I'll leave it at that.

  • I'm not sure the world is ready for a Hitler biopic (lol). Recently a Madamme Tussaud's Wax Museum was opened in Berlin with Hitler included. There was security and folks were warned yet a man went in and tore the head off. Sorry but I LAUGHED when I heard. I also felt bad for those who created because the likeness was perfect - HIM sitting at a desk in a bunker towards the end of his life.eom/WE
  • I know Hilter brings up alot of emotions, and no one should ever glorify in any way what he did. But I always wondered, how did someone get to be that evil, to orchestrate the genocide that he did? I would make good drama.~amie
  • But I also wanted to add, you are right, the world is not ready for a Hitler biopic, too many suffered and the wounds are still to raw.So let's stick with Johnny playing Edgar Allen Poe, you know Johnny would be great as the brilliant yet slightly psychotic drunk writer~amie
  • MY Johnny would be absolutely perfect for that biopic.eom/WE
