All My Children Discussion Group
This happened to me about an hour ago. I am still chuckling about it and thought I should share. We could all use a laugh!
I ran to the Mall on my lunch break to buy a gift card and some other stuff. I ventured into Abercrombie and Fitch (for the first time in my life) because the young man I am buying a gift card for likes that style of clothes. First of all let me tell you it smelled delicious. I don’t mean “fresh baked cookies” delicious, if you know what I mean. I weaved among the racks and black and white posters of perfect young people until I found the gift card rack. Tending the cash register were two young and very adorable young men. They looked like they could be on a poster themselves! When they smiled at me I almost forgot why I had come. Finally I remembered! The cute dark headed boy tended to some other chore while the cute blonde helped me. He was obviously in training because he needed help from the other guy and the transaction took a little longer than we expected. He said: “Sorry for the wait”. I replied: “Oh no problem. It smells good in here so I don’t mind the delay.” I paused and under my breath I said: “Boy do I feel like Mrs. Robinson!” and he laughed… paused....and said “What do you mean?”
It has now been confirmed that I am, in fact, getting old!

Some people like a "new car" smell. I love the "new clothes" smell. And new clothes you buy at Wal-mart never, ever smell like the ones you buy at the mall. The new clothes at Wal-Mart smell like the Subway hoagie store that inevitably is within the store. When you get them home you just want to wash them!
The big A&F store is about four blocks away, about halfway between where I live and where I work.
The clothes are certainly age-inappropriate but I do enjoy the three-story billboards.
BTW, did you see the A&F guys behind Obama last week? They were on CNN. Only one of them works for A&F. I guess they had their 15 mins of fame.....
OMG that is so funny. We have a Hollister in our local mall and that store smells really good too. They walk around constantly spraying the clothes - they smell like that when you get them home too. I've been promising my daughter I would take her to the A&F in the Cherry Hill mall - so I'll have to see if it is the same atmosphere as yours.
Cute story -thanks for sharing. BTW what did you say to the kid when he questioned the Mrs. Robinson reference? I never saw that movie but I know what it was about.
