Sounds like I'm on the same page as VG.  I missed the show and don't really care.  I know I can come here for the recaps (thanks Linda and Songbird).  Linda posts the links where you can watch the performance - that's all I need, right?   Again I didn't get home until late last night so I missed the show.  I just searched the web to see who was voted off and knew I could come here today to find out the rest of the show.  I hope Jason goes home next week.

  • Yes, that's all you need, kimi. You didn't need to search the web. You could have just used the links but I see that they probably weren't here yet. I was gone myself last night and taped it. I watched the tape first and got to talking about the show with my husband and I didn't get to put the links on until late. But if that ever happens again, just go to the previous performance or results show topic and click on either the written link or the video link. I'm sure you will be able to find the current one from there. Or just copy/paste the video link up to the ''.com'' and you will be taken to the homepage and it should be the first thing on there. Sorry you had to search, but I'm glad songbird and I are a help. ~ eom. Linda
  • The results are above in this topic. That's the reason for a results topic. Why search the web?

Oh my. It seems like we are going backwards. The Group Number had started to get good since IGB and they really started performing better together. Today it was like the first time they sang together. It was terrible! They were out of sync in movement, the range was too low for some so that either you couldn't hear one of a duo or in Brooke and Syesha's case, a couple of notes in the song-- SONG sung BLUE--and the ones who had a bit of a solo who decided to do their own thing, mostly Archie, were way off in pitch and tempo. Also, David A. turned "Cracklin' Rosie" into another ballad. Can't that kid sing anything else? He's a kid! Doesn't he listen to rock music?! David C. was the only one who did the songs justice, that is when it wasn't too low that you couldn't hear him sing. I feel so bad that Neil Diamond had to witness that.

One thing I have a question about. This is the third (I think) time that they sang a song in the group number medley that was just done by one of the contestants the night before. I realize that the group number must be set up way ahead of time before the contestants decide what song they will sing. So if a song is already set up in the group number, why is it on the song list for the contestants to pick from. That just doesn't make sense when there are so many other songs for them to choose. This also was the third time that Jason started the group number. No one else can do it?

I was glad that Ryan corrected things about last night and said, regarding Paula, that rumors were false. I know she can have her strange moments but this was not one of them. Nigel through them all off by doing this and he screwed up the show by throwing in that sudden change. He should have just left it to critique after both songs. Either that or they should have gone an extra half hour.

Now that my rant is done--I liked the FORD commercial a lot better than last week, Natashia is a lot better than Leona, IMO, and Neil did a great performance! I hate the phone calls but loved the one for Simon from his first crush. That was funny but sweet at the same time. You mean Simon was once 9 years old? LOL!

Eliminations--As soon as I saw Jason come out, I figured he was safe then remembered that Ryan called Chikezie out first and sent him to the stools. So I still had hope. Then Ryan dashed that hope by sending Jason to the couches. Well, then it was easy to figure that it was the two girls together but Ryan never said "The Bottom 2". Later I noticed that Syesha was the top one in the Dial Idol predictions so that could be why Ryan didn't call them the "Bottom 2". It was another thing to fool you. It seems AI is all about tricks this year doesn't it? I had hoped that Syesha would stay and she did. She is really improving. I agree with who went home even though I was hoping it was Jason first.

I hope next week's theme will be much better for the contestants as they will be able to pick something that they actually know.

  • So sorry. They did not do a song tonight in the group number that was done last night by one of the contestants. I got two of the songs mixed up. But they have done it in the past maybe twice so what I said still goes. ~ eom. Linda

I remembered to tape the show, but forgot to watch it when I returned home from my eldest granddaughter's Folk Dance event, which was marvelous.  Just more proof that I am so over AI.  I was really only interested in hearing Neil Diamond sing anyways, so thanks to your recap, I now know when to take my finger of the FF button!  Did Natasha sing her new single, Pocket Full of Sunshine?  Was she good?  Should I lift a finger to hear her?  I will listen in to Simon and Tara.

Brooke's departure is no surprise ... in fact, is long overdue, in my estimation.  Also no surprise that she shed copious tears ... she seems emotionally fragile.  Next week will be Jason's turn, methinks.

  • In regards to Natasha I think you should lift your finger and listen to some of it and if you like it, continue on. If not, put the finger down and continue to FF. I liked her. I thought she sounded much better than Leona Lewis who seemed to be impersonating Mariah Carey. But someone else on another post did not like Natasha, so I think you should see for yourself. As I said, you don't have to hear the whole thing if you don't like her. The thing with Simon and Tara was cute and Simon was very surprised! ~~ I agree, Jason can go next. ~ eom. Linda
  • Finger lifted ... I did enjoy her and listened to the entire song. And how cute was she with David A? I really enjoyed Leona Lewis last week, too. Simon and Tara were cute ... Simon was blushing! ...valleygirl

Thanks for the recap. So happy Jason and David C. are safe. I felt bad for Brooke, but I feel bad every week.

Theme next week... does that open it up to any rock song? I hope so! Should be a good week!

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • The theme--That I don't know. I have a post on my Idol News topic about it. There is a link in the article to a list of 500 Songs in alphabetical order. Now I really don't think that the contestants have that many to choose from, but how many they do have is the question. That part has always bugged me that the show doesn't let us know exactly how many songs the Idols can choose from. Only in Beatles week did AI let us know that the contestants had only 25 songs to choose from. What about the other weeks? Do they get more? Hopefully they do get more than 25 but I don't think it is from the whole 500. You can go on there and look anyway. Maybe you will see something that sounds good that you think the contestants would be good singing and make up your own song list for them. ~ eom. Linda
