Happy New Year's Eve everyone.

Please humor me and take the time to answer a few questions.

What's the weather like where you are now? Here on the south shore of LI, it's cloudy and we are expecting snow but right now it looks like there is a little icy rain.

Do you have any special plans for this evening?  Martin and I are staying home.  He won't get home from work until about 4.  I'll make some appetizers and bacon wrapped scallops, his favorite.  We will probably watch a movie and the Times Square show.  I'm not sure yet what the guys will be doing.

Have you ever been to Times Square on New Year's Eve? I have never gone and just thinking of the crowd makes me claustrophobic.  We were in the city this past Saturday and it was packed by Rockefeller Center.  Tonight Times Square will probably be much worse.

If anyone has any great appetizer recipes, please feel free to share.

I wish you all a safe and happy new year.

It was a good night to stay in.  Cold and rainy so we had popcorn and champagne and watched some DVD's with some friends in the building.  Bones marathon going on at the moment.  Happy New Year to all my MD friends!

good morning New years's day.. hope I can still participate to the party!  :)  Thanks izi

What's the weather like where you are now? we had snow... very windy and COLD... stayed in all day except to throw out trash and stood outside just gazing at the snow coming down... its so magical... knowing I wasn't going anywhere also helps to make it feel nice!

Do you have any special plans for this evening?  Bob and I stayed in.  We lanned dinner late  so I made appetizers... I bought those Savorings crescent thingies... pepperoni ones and also spinach and cheese... I didn't care for them at all.  I also made some nachos... then we decided to skip the steak dinner and opted for some leftovers... we'll make the steak in a couple hours before going out to visit w/ friends.  We opened our champagne around 11 and watched the Times Sq. festivities... finished our last glass of champagne just after midnite and went to bed... still very cold outside...

Have you ever been to Times Square on New Year's Eve? I've lived and worked NYC all my life but have never gone.  sometimes when the 2nd falls on a work day you will still find confetti on the street.  I much prefer to stay home.  too many tourists for the whole month... glad they will all be exiting w/ their giant suitcases next week!  LOL  j/k and no offense to any folks visiting NYC!  LOL

If anyone has any great appetizer recipes, please feel free to share.  I didn't make them last night, but they are always a hit.

cook up about 1/2 lb of bacon and crumble it.  Take a pkg of crescent rolls and roll out in one big piece on waxed paper  on a cookie sheet.  Spread w/ softened cream cheese and sprinkle w/ bacon.  Roll up and then slice into 'pennies'.  Bake at usual time on pkg.  They are so delicious and also work very well for breakfast (ie. if you have company)  yum... we've come to call them breakfast pillows!  yummmmmm I have some bacon bits, wonder if that would be the same?  hmmm maybe I'll go ask Bob what he thinks and make them now!  LOL

  • Hi Kriss, your new year's eve was similar to mine. We started the afternoon with snacks and then I made some pigs in a blanket, heated up some mini quiche that I bought. They were very good. Served some cheese and crackers too. By the time I finished preparing the scallops Martin said he was kind of full. LOL. Lucky for me I didn't over cook them so they can be reheated. Later we had some leftover shepherds pie. We didn't have champagne because the boys needed to be picked up at 1:30. Martin and I took a catnap at 11 and were up at 1. Now Robert is still sleeping, Michael had work at 9 and Martin just went back to bed. The house is quiet. I'm going to start baking Robert's birthday cake. We celebrating today and might go out to eat. Thanks for the recipe. It sounds good and easy. I might make them since I have all of the ingredients. Happy New Year! izi

What's the weather like where you are now?   We got about 8 to 10 inches of new snow.  The roads are awful!

Do you have any special plans for this evening?  We were suppose to be alone tonight after a very,   l   o   n   g    week of company, but our number two son heard "lobster tails" and decided that he could probably stay one more day.  Actually, the weather is not good to be driving.  He lives in Carolina Beach, NC which means driving through PA.  Not pleasant in bad weather, so he will join us for a lobster tail dinner and probably a good movie.

Have you ever been to Times Square on New Year's Eve? I have not, but both my kids celebrated there during their college years.

Many good wishes everyone for a healthy, happy, prosperous New Year!!!!!

    Love, Zoie

  • Hi Zoie and Happy New Year. Lobster Tails were on my list but they were a bit too pricey. Not that the scallops are much cheaper but I think Martin likes them more. We only got 2 inches of snow today, and I'm good with that. Have a great night and stay warm. izi
  • I hope the three of you enjoyed your lobster tails. If the roads hadn't been so bad up your way, I'd have been tempted to join you! ...valleygirl

Do I have any special plans this evening? I have to work till 9.  I may end up doing something after work. Maybe have a few drinks.

Have I been to Times Square for New Years? No.

    Cool questions!

What's the weather like where you are now? Well, right nowit is 56 degrees here but it is extremely windy.  BUT, the temps are supposed to drop to 30 degrees by this evening at 5 and then into the lower 20's by midnight!

Do you have any special plans for this evening?  No, my Ashley is having a friend over to spend the night so we will be here with them.  Ally is going to a party with her new 'friend' (she and her marine broke up) and then they are coming back here.

Have you ever been to Times Square on New Year's Eve? No, I never have but I've always thought it would be so much fun!

Speaking about Ally and her marine who is on deployment right now, things have not been very good.  He apparently is home sick or whatever and has been very mean to Ally.  He has had his friends 'watching' her and then he emails or sends her a message on MySpace and he has sent me several emails and has not been nice at all.  He wanted her to stay at home all the time and not go and do anything with her friends and she wouldn't do it.  So, finally after he started threatening her about how she was going to be sorry when he comes home, she just broke up with him.  This was around the end of October.  She just started going out with another guy last weekend.  She has known him for a couple of years (from school) so we have already known him so it really isn't a big deal trying to get to know him!  I just hope that when the marine comes home he doesn't try to start anything.  The marine and the new guy know each other (they all went to school together).  Anyway, Ally had a really hard time there for a while, but is back to her old self and enjoying her new relationship.

    Have a FANTABULOUS day!

  • A&A it sounds like Ally made the right decision in breaking up with her ex. He sounds a bit controlling. I hope he gets over the break up and doesn't bother Ally. Have a Happy New Year. izi

    Good Eve afternoon!

What's the weather like where you are now?  It's sunny but cold.  We had a couple of inches of snow overnight.  The temperature is 12 at present but feels like -6 with the wind chill.  It's supposed to get even colder tonight.

Do you have any special plans for this evening?  valleyguy is out picking up some movies right now, and we'll probably have leftovers for dinner.  I doubt we'll watch the ball drop as I expect I'll be in bed long before midnight.

Have you ever been to Times Square on New Year's Eve?  No, but we spent three days in Times Square the summer before last.  From the top of Rockefeller Center we viewed the spot from which the ball is dropped.

If anyone has any great appetizer recipes, please feel free to share.  We also enjoy the bacon-wrapped scallops, izi.  I always marinade them in teriyaki sauce before broiling.
