Hi Angela - good to ''see' you.
(1) Are the kids in your neighborhood going back to school this week or have they already been attending? I think they are already back.
(2) If you were able to go back to school would you? No.
(3) Were you into after school sports or programs (cheerleading, soccer, etc...) I was in the choir in High School.
(4) What do you miss and don't miss about school? I don't miss the school routine. I miss the friendships. Actually, I am in touch with friends from way back then.
(5) If it was up to you would you have school all year round with very limited amount of school days off? I think having the summer off is a good thing.
(6) How was your labor day weekend? It was quiet - we visited some family - saw baby Alexandra and her two brothers so I was very happy.
(2) If you were able to go back to school would you?
Yes, I'm gonna take a sign language class starting this month. But full time school? No way.
I did f/t work and f/t school simultaneously a few years back and that was enough for me!
(3) Were you into after school sports or programs (cheerleading, soccer, etc...)
Grade school: basketball & softball. High school (HS): cheerleading for football & basketball games.
(4) What do you miss and don't miss about school?
Well, in HS, we would cut class and play bid whist (cards) for hours. I know this is really bad behavior!!
But this was so fun to me, it was a big thing at my school. I did also really enjoy my high school education.
Despite the above cutting class, I love(d) to learn and did well in school. I also really miss the camaraderie of friends.
I don't miss the commuting. HS - 90 minutes on train and bus.
For grad school, I don't miss working 5/6 days and going to school on weekends - that was a lot. THank God for that camaraderie!
(5) If it was up to you would you have school all year round with very limited amount of school days off?
No way!! I have the good fortune to work in a school and we have 12-month school year (special ed) which equals
only 2 weeks off at the end of the school year. (Lotsa days off during the year.) (General ed kids have summers off.)
You need a lot of down time to unwind when you work with kids, and time to regroup and re-energize for the new school year.
I also think the kids need a break too. They are asked to perform and behave for 6-7 hours a day and they also need time to just be kids, IMO.
(6) How was your labor day weekend?
Great. I cooked and had some friends over; we sat out on the patio and had a great time.
fun ?s, ag
(1) Are the kids in your neighborhood going back to school this week or have they already been attending? I'm not sure. I would say that the kids went back last week because my teacher friend started last week.
(2) If you were able to go back to school would you? I've been in school--college, for the last four years. I'm still taking classes.
(3) Were you into after school sports or programs (cheerleading, soccer, etc...) I was on the swim team in my Junior/Senior year. I loved it!
(4) What do you miss and don't miss about school? There isn't too much that I do miss about school. Back then I didn't want to be in school, I just wanted to play and goof off all the time with my friends. I think I had ADD. My mind was always off in some fantasy. It's a miracle I even graduated from high school, LOL!
(5) If it was up to you would you have school all year round with very limited amount of school days off? In my area, yes!
(6) How was your labor day weekend? It was okay. Didn't do anything special.

1) Are the kids in your neighborhood going back to school this week or have they already been attending? I believe our district the kids go back tomorrow. In Bob's district the teachers started today, kids on Thursday. He was very sad this morning.
(2) If you were able to go back to school would you? heck no
(3) Were you into after school sports or programs (cheerleading, soccer, etc...) nothing
(4) What do you miss and don't miss about school? nothing
(5) If it was up to you would you have school all year round with very limited amount of school days off? no kids, doesn't matter to me at all. But I'd bet that Bob would not want to give up his summer vacation.
(6) How was your labor day weekend? very relaxing... I watched Miss Pettigrew Friday night. Sunday and Monday we went bike riding... watched TV, BBQ'd and that's about it. Nothing special, no invites anywhere so we just hung around. I was a bit obsessed w/ Gustav news and had the weather channel on a lot.

(1) Are the kids in your neighborhood going back to school this week or have they already been attending? School here in Tampa started on 8/21, my youngest, Amelia, just started Kindergarten today. She goes to a private pre-school.
(2) If you were able to go back to school would you? I would only go back to HS, if I could have the knowledge I have now. There was to much teenage angst for me to relive again. As far as college, I am going back in January. I have to take a semester course to be certified to teach Kindergarten. I'm certified to teach Middle and HS, but I think with my 3 kids, Kindergarten will be a better fit for me right now.
(3) Were you into after school sports or programs (cheerleading, soccer, etc...) I was in the Drama Club and on the debating team.
(4) What do you miss and don't miss about school? I miss college more than HS. I miss the college football games, the parties. I miss my mind being stimulated everyday. I miss my friends. As far as HS, I don't miss the "mean girls" or Algebra, LOL! But I did love going to the proms and homecomings.
(5) If it was up to you would you have school all year round with very limited amount of school days off? I think the set up is fine the way it is.
(6) How was your labor day weekend? non-eventful, which is a good thing!
Take care Sweet Angela, and may everyone have a blessed day!

(2) If you were able to go back to school would you? I've got the chance now to work on my PhD, but am opting to take my time. As I get older, I discover myself becoming more and more selfish with my time.
(3) Were you into after school sports or programs (cheerleading, soccer, etc...) No sports, but I did everything else --- journalism (yearbook, newspaper), band (marching and symphony), student council, etc.
(4) What do you miss and don't miss about school? Nothing! Working on the admin side, I still do it every day.
(5) If it was up to you would you have school all year round with very limited amount of school days off? No, we need a break. The mind can only absorb what the butt can endure.
(6) How was your labor day weekend? Rough.
Red Cross never got any better. I ended up getting called in to a second shelter first thing Monday morning. This was another site that had gone over 36 hours without seeing a Red Cross Manager, much less a volunteer.
I showed up, did my thing, solved about a billion crisis situtions (seriously, you have someone on chemo and it didn't dawn on you to call 911?), screamed at people from the Red Cross, begged for emergency supplies and made some order in the chaos. When I asked for a manager to come and support the shelter, I was told that I was there and that would be good enough.
UNTIL --- our governor announced he would be arriving for photos. Suddenly, the Red Cross bigwigs were brought in to serve as managers. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I was so pissed off. Dirty politics.
Went back to my first shelter with the trannies. I missed them. They're headed back at some point on Wednesday! YAY!

(1) Are the kids in your neighborhood going back to school this week or have they already been attending? Mostly teachers go back today and the kids tomorrow.
(2) If you were able to go back to school would you? Sure. If there's ever a class I find interesting I'd go back.
(3) Were you into after school sports or programs (cheerleading, soccer, etc...) Yep. Cheerleading practice was after school. The drama club met afterward and all rehearsals for plays were immediately following. Choir/chorale was always during school and that was cool.
(4) What do you miss and don't miss about school? It's been soooo long but there were teachers I miss and friendships. Also miss choir because we sang at so many occassions.
(5) If it was up to you would you have school all year round with very limited amount of school days off? No. That (imo) isn't good for anyone - teachers or students. Everyone needs a break.
(6) How was your labor day weekend?? Glorious. The weather down the shore was perfect BUT we were glued to the TV watching Gustav nad one other BREAKING NEWS story (heh). No computer access was horrible with all that going on.

(1) Are the kids in your neighborhood going back to school this week or have they already been attending? I have not seen the first yellow bus yet
(2) If you were able to go back to school would you? I would not mind going back to college and taking a few different classes along the way and skipping some I did take.
(3) Were you into after school sports or programs (cheerleading, soccer, etc...) sports, sports, sports
(4) What do you miss and don't miss about school? I miss the wonderful friendships and not having so much based on money. I miss the feeling of newness in the fall and football games. I don't miss fraternity *rush*. I don't miss 3hr labs and distant professors who could not teach.
(5) If it was up to you would you have school all year round with very limited amount of school days off? No way.
(6) How was your labor day weekend? Quiet

Good morning all and Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I am praying for the people who have been hit by the storms. I hope everyone is OK. Our trip to NYC this weekend was FANTABULOUS!!! See #6!
(1) Are the kids in your neighborhood going back to school this week or have they already been attending? Our kids here went back last week.....Aug 25.
(2) If you were able to go back to school would you? yes
(3) Were you into after school sports or programs (cheerleading, soccer, etc...) yes, I was a JV and Varsity cheerleader for football and basketball from 8th grade (8 & 9 for JV, 10,11,12 for Varsity) thru my senior year, I played tennis my Junior year (broke my ankle mid way thru the season so I only played 1/2 a season) played softball all the way thru (JV, 8 & 9, Varsity 10,11,12) was in the SCA, FBLA, FFA, Latin Club, Spanish Club, Yearbook Committee, I think that is all.......
(4) What do you miss and don't miss about school? I loved high school so I pretty much miss all of it, except for all the drama and jealousy from 'those' girls.....I never really had any BIG problems with them because I just did my thing and didn't really pay any attention to all that drama, but there were a couple of girls that I had known practically all of my life who would try to start crap every now and then......and I don't miss that.......
(5) If it was up to you would you have school all year round with very limited amount of school days off? Well, that is a good question. I have never done the year-round school thing and neither have my kids. We have one school in the system I work for that does year round school and it seems to be pretty effective. It started out as a pilot program and all the people who have kids in that school seem to really like it. They go for 6 weeks, 2 weeks off, etc and their time off ends up being at the same time as the holidays that regular school gets (spring break, christmas break) and the teachers don't seem to mind either.....
(6) How was your labor day weekend? Mine was AWESOME in NYC!!! This is my 5th trip and it gets better each time! This time my goal was to visit the Museum of Natural History and go to the Statue of Liberty....We did both and really enjoyed them! We also went to ground zero, walked from their up to China Town, Little Italy, SoHo, then back to Times Square. Our hotel was 2 blocks from Times Square and a couple of blocks from Bryant Park. We did some shopping and looking and picture taking, etc. Had a BLAST!!! Now, the next time we go we are going to see a show. Ashley will be going to the race in Talledega in October and Ally and I are thinking that we will try to come back then! I don't really like to go in the winter, although it is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, it is just too cold for me...........Oh, and we went to the Brazilian Festival too and that was really a lot of FUN!!!
I hope everyone in the storm areas is OK. I hope everyone has a fantabulous day!
