All My Children Discussion Group
These were clips from past Top performances. I enjoyed this show because it was nice to see these fabulous performances over.
Tom announces--"The judges were asked to countdown the greatest dances of the first five seasons. Of all the routines that scored perfect 30s, these are their choices for the Best of the Best."
What I will do is list the judge who describes the celebrity's dance and why they are in that place in the Top 10 first, and then put a judge's (or two) comment taken from the show it was performed.
10. Kelly Monaco & Alec Mazzo-(Season 1 Week 6)-FREESTYLE-"Let's Get Loud"
Carrie Ann: Only one woman champion. Went from lowest scoring dancer to most improved. Through dedication and perseverance, anything can be accomplished. ~~
Len--Unbelieveable. That was the best of the series. ~~
Tom says, "That was a Perfect 30." I think so we get the idea of the dances on the list.
9. Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas-(Season 5 Week 4)-PASO DOBLE-"You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)"
Bruno: Biggest shock of Season 5 was couple that everyone thought would go to eliminations. ~~
Bruno--Power, stealth. Just incredible.
8. Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke-(Season 3 Week 9)-CHA-CHA-CHA-"Dance To The Music"
Len: Technically not always perfect, but great charisma. Great charm about him. Nickname-Twinkletoes. ~~
Bruno--You're irresistable!
7. Apolo Anton Ohno & Julianne Hough-(Season 4 Week 9)-QUICKSTEP-"Mr. Pinstripe Suit"
Bruno: Complete package. All points were there. His performance added real magic to this dance. ~~
Len--It was fantastic!
6. Joey Fatone & Kym Johnson-(Season 4 Week 7)-JIVE-"Slippin' and Slidin' "
Bruno: Ultimate showman. Always has fun, fun, fun. He takes control of the room with this electrifying performance. ~~
Bruno--Smashing showcase of talent.
5. Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough-(Season 5 Week 8)-QUICKSTEP (Yellow suit performance with the big kiss ending)-"Jumpin' Jack"
NOTE: Julianne is a champion in Latin dance but she is equally excellent in the Quickstep because this is the second Quickstep she choreographed that made the Top 10.
Len: Boy from Brazil--BananaMan. Fantastic Quickstep. ~~
Bruno--That was an explosion. You've got the finish line in sight!
Tom just announced about the 30 past performers still coming up. I wonder if they will dance?
4. Drew Lachey & Cheryl Burke-(Season 2 Week 8)-FREESTYLE-"Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy"
Carrie Ann: Iconic Dance of the season. Haven't seen anything like it. ~~
Len--That was everything Freestyle should be. That was brilliant!
My personal favorite.
3. Stacey Keibler & Tony Dovolani-(Season 2 Week 8)-SAMBA-"Livin' La Vida Loca"
Bruno: Incredible showgirl. Sexiest samba ever. One of the most talented we have ever seen. ~~
Bruno--Weapon of Mass Seduction!
Carrie Ann--Not just your physique but the way you move your physique.
NOTE: Shannon vs. Stacey--Stacey had very long legs, too, and was even taller than Shannon but she was able to work with her physique a lot better than Shannon did. I was trying to give Shannon the benefit of the doubt that just because she had long legs she wouldn't be able to dance, remembering Stacey and how well she did. Obviously, Shannon was not able to overcome the awkwardness and gangliness like Stacey did.
My second personal favorite.
2. Mel B & Maxim Cherkovskiy-(Season 5 Week 7)-PASO DOBLE-"Free Your Mind"
Carrie Ann: Rocked the dance floor like no other. Aggession, passion, the hottest outfit ever. Truly unforgettable. ~~
Bruno--Adrenalin charged dominatrix.
1. Mario Lopez & Karina Smirnoff-(Season 3 Week 9)-TANGO-"Whatever Lola Wants"
Len: Best Performance Ever. Standout, fantastic performance. ~~
Len--That was your best dance ever!
Bruno--Gutsy, intense!
Carrie Ann--That might be the best dance I've seen all season!
Tom--"There you have it. The greatest dances of the first five seasons, according to our esteemed judges."
COMMENTS: I loved all these dances the first time around and loved seeing them again. I wonder, though, if this was a way to smooth over the fact that Mario Lopez didn't win that season. I know he and Karina were very upset about this. Same goes for Mel B and & Maxim to get second on the Top 10. Also, Stacey & Tony getting third. These were all couples that were thought to win and didn't. It's also interesting that the only winning female came in tenth.

I agree! My favourite all time dance was Save a horse, too! It was just great! And Kelly Monaco getting 10th place really does suck - at least John O'Hurley didn't get a spot above hers!
This show, I think is geared towards the male celebrity winning - and I sure hope Kristi puts an end to that! I think the female professionals can dance circles around the female celebrities and with their beautiful costumes shaking all over the place, it gives the audience the sense that the male celebrities are doing a better job than their counterparts. Go Kristi!
