All My Children Discussion Group
7 guys and 7 girls
Judges: Nigel, Mary and Adam
Cat looks like a silver bullet. She always looks great but the dress looks like foil (lol).
Tonight we'll see photos and video of competitor's childhoods and first dances. We start with pics of our jidges (cute).
Ashleigh & Jakob: HIP HOP - Tabitha and Napoleon - Whatcha Say
Out of their zone but pretty darn good. T&N always have a great theme.
Nigel: loved the feel. Great gimmick.
Mary: Ashleigh you are a star tonight. Tight down and hard hitting. Jakob always hits it.
Adam: crushing it - Ash is absolutely a contender. So convincing and gripping.
Karen & Kevin: BROADWAY - Spencer - If My Friends Could See Me Now
Not perfect but pretty darn good. Tough for Kevin but she was restrained.
Nigel: Cute but I didn't enjoy it. No humor. Kevin she brought more than you did.
Mary: it needed more. Nice but fairly safe. Never got into it.
Adam: challenged too much. Karen was equipped to fair better.
NOTE: This always gets me. The song is a female solo - the dance is a female solo so why use it for a duet if you can't make it work out of context?? I do about 20 numbers each year out of context and this was poorly staged and choreographed and the dancers are not to blame but may be in the bottom again because of this!! JMO.
Noelle & Russell: FOX TROT - Eddie Simon - Baby (You've Got What It Takes)
Fun couple - they enjoyed this and it showed - loved it.
Nigel: Russell vastly improved, a star. Noelle not content in his shadow.
Mary: it was effortless, showy and smooth.
Adam: extraordinary amount of confidence. (as hard as the Quick Step).
Channing & Victor: JAZZ - Tyce - Blackbird
This was creative and interesting but as birds go it's no Hok!
Nigel: Victor has grown beyond belief. This was very high standard.
Mary: safe but so very good.
Adam: This was a smart routine.
Kathryn & Legacy: PASO DOBLE - Tony Meredith - Pursuit Ka (Cirque)
Strong and powerful lines. Slightly sloppy ending but otherwise great.
Nigel: Kathryn you've changed your juvenile dancing.Legacy has passion and a need for knowledge.
Mary: right on the money. Holy smokes :::screams:::
Adam: Kathryn you killed it. Really shook me. Legacy your stamina is spectacular.
Dizzy Feet Foundation update. In four months they've given 9 amazing dancers scholarships. Wonderful creation by Nigel, Adam and Carrie Ann Inaba. The performance planned sounds spectacular from Alvin Ailey dancers to past contenders here and DWTS. It's 11/29 at The Kodak Theater (and I'm on the wrong coast?)!
Ellenore & Ryan: CONTEMPORARY - Travis (yay) - Your Ex-Lover's Dead
Lovely choreography and very well executed. They need this reprieve.
Nigel: cemented your place - benefited from a Travis routine. My favorite of the night.
Mary: Ellenore has star quality moments and technique. Ryan, perfection - couldn't get better. Magical.
Adam: SYTYCD just kicked in. Made me catch my breath again. Commitment to story. Thank you guys.
Mollee & Nathan: POP JAZZ - Laurieann - Bad Romance
This choreographer is a real task master. Nathan seems to have learned from his fiasco last week (or wizened up). Precise, gritty and strong. I must admit I expected this to be a disaster - great surprise.
Nigel: can only compliment - you dug deeper. Nathan must continue to take it serious.
Mary: the dream team is back. Strong, committed and intense. Really good.
Adam: you need strategy. Really strong week - find nuance to your chemistry.
Sadly, Karen and Kevin may be bottom tomorrow (2 weeks in a row). Hope not because they both stepped completely out of their zone for, again my opinion, inferior choreography. I have no idea what couples will join them. Right now it really is popularity over talent. That hopefully will change as the judges save some and oust weaker dancers but who knows what the fans will do.
