Additional Comments: bringing Uncle Ralph into their family. Or at least show some remorse or guilt. Nothing so far.

Message: Still waiting to hear Janet apologize for...
The list is long...(in no particular order)
1. Tormenting the hell out of her pregnant teenage daughter. 2. Kicking Parker out of his Aunt Emma's house on more than one occasion. 3. Siccing a goon on Paul and Emily. 4. Delighting in the news that Craig and Rosanna are sleeping together. 5. Kicking Jack when he's down by giving him grief about drinking before the shooting. 6. Ignoring her husband's request that they not adopt her daughter's baby.
Please feel free to add to the list... I'm sure I overlooked something.

How about stomping into Carly's home and calling her a bitch for suggesting Jack not marry a slut he barely knew so her KIDS could adjust to Daddy's new BedBuddy? Or nagging Jack into asking for the entire mortgage, forcing Carly into a partnership with Craig to keep her business afloat? I could go on all day.... ;) gallyn
Oops, let me clarify....for calling Carly a bitch for suggesting Jack not marry Janet (the slut he hadn't bothered to have around his kids) two minutes after proposing to her, until his kids had time to adjust to the news. OH, and one for the Carjackers in the crowd-----for making Jack wear her FUGLY hand knit Xmas sweater last year. ;) gallyn
I can't forget how Janet piped up

Message: Janet should apologise to Jack, for wild accusations. Is this a woman who stands by her man? Jack sure has taken the heat for her time and time again. Kick Janet to the curb Jack!

Message: At the very least, she should trot over to Paul and Em's with a cut fruit arrangement and apologize for siccing her mobster "uncle" on them.
Somehow I doubt she'll do that either...

I have a feeling (maybe just a fantasy of mine) that, as the owner of a newspaper, Emily is going to get a chance to rub this in Janet's face. I can see Emily doing a story on the recent ''organized crime wave in Oakdale'' and asking Janet if she knew what kind of a person he was when she sicced them on Paul and Emily in order to interfer in an adoption. No matter how horrible Pemily may seem to Janet, they can't compare to a thug like Ralph who held an ill woman, her newborn son and her sister Terri hostage at gun point and was responsible for the death of her child's father. I salivate at the potential snarkiness from Emily would would spare no details and taunts. eom Linny
Dare to dream that anyone could bring that self righteous hypocrite down a notch or three.....but I fear the newly defanged Emily will simply shrug her shoulders and ''forgive'' Janet for being a bitch, as Janet does the backstroke double-time to distance herself from her ''beloved'' Uncle Ralphie. *sigh* gallyn

Message: Janet had absolutely nothing to do with any of the Brad/Katie/Henry/Ralph mess. NOTHING. She didn't bring Ralph to town. She didn't get him involved with Henry, and therefore Katie. Her only connection to what just happened is that she used to know him 18 years ago, when she was a kid. What exactly should she apologize for, and to whom?
Replies: (list all replies )
Propriety would dictated that Janet would at least acknowledge that she was wrong about Uncle Ralphie and wrong to let the man back into their lives. Thuggery notwithstanding, the woman practically forced Ralph onto Liberty after Liberty pretty much let her know she didn't appreciate the constant ambusing and such. I know if I were Janet, the fact that I'd let a predator get so close to my family, even if I was too stupid to realize that they man was a thug, would require me mumbling some ''mea culpas'' to someone. eom Linny
Well, let's say for argument's sake that Janet is entirely naive about what Ralph does - which, BTW, I do not believe for a second - even if she is clueless, she inadvertently exposed her family and Jack's family to a murderer. I would expect her to be horrified that she'd had that man in her kitchen, that she'd asked him to intervene in her daughter's life. I would expect something...some kind of remorse that she'd known this man for years yet had no idea what he was capable of. I would be devastated that I considered this man a good person, a friend and an honorary family member. It would call my whole world into question. I never said it's Janet's fault that Henry, et al, got involved with Ralph or that Katie used her brain in confronting him. ht
Plus it strikes me as odd that if Janet really and truly didn't know what Ralph was - as you say she was a kid when she last knew him - then why would she expect him to be able to get stuff done with the snap of his fingers? ht
I do agree that Janet did not bring
There's always tomorrow, or the next day. At this point, Janet hasn't had 30 seconds to wrap her head around the news about Ralph. It's more than a little premature to fault her for negligence. I suppose you think she should have been worried about the apology she might owe Paul and Emily TODAY? eom/D
I can honestly say if it had be ME, may be I wouldn't seek out Pemily that second, but I'd be doing some serious soul searching about who I put my trust in and what kind of person I allowed into the lives of my daughter and that unborn child that Janet seemed hold in higher regard than her own daughter. I'd be mortified, destroyed, embarassed and humbled at the news, even if I wasn't directly responsible for the shooting. I'd think that any somewhat decent person would feel that way about the situation. eom Linny
I'll join you in cutting Janet a little slack. In the past few days her world has all but fallen totally apart. But I don't think there is a thing on earth that Janet could do that would win her anything but contempt here. She is this season's version of Jeniffer, or maybe Gwen. It seems as if there always has to be one character who draws nothing but criticism, no matter what. Janet has made a lot of mistakes, some out of selfishness, some out of misguided love, but certainly no more than most of the rest of Oakdale's population. And I doubt seriously that the actress has the last word in her wardrobe selections. JMHO /Cricket
Depending on your perspective, Janet either learned for the first time, or had it confirmed, that Ralph is a violent thug TODAY. In the space of a few hours she's been dealing with Jack's devastation, Brad's death, Katie's grief, and the need to tell Liberty that her father is dead. But you would have her searching her soul about her relationship with Ralph. Wow, that would be some super multi-tasking. eom/D
Last time I checked, no one blamed JP for the fact that wardrobe is obsessed with her breasts. I'm just sick of having them thrust in my face no matter whose fault it is. eom Linny
Oh come on now. It's not that hard to do all of that AND have some twinges of regret and humility. I know that character is stupid but she's not mentally challenged. I think that quite a few posters on this board are capable of having several different conflicting emotions going on at once and actually being able to vocalize them. Would it kill this woman to have ONCE said, ''OMG! Not my UNCLE RALPHIE...I can't believe the trust I put in this man! Look at how he's torn this family apart!'' or something along those lines. It would have fit nicely in between all of the other ''sainted earth mother'' stuff she's doing right now.
...and I am willing to bet that her omission will not be rectified with the passage of time, just like we will never see her acknoweldge the psychological damage she did to her child during her pregnancy, we will likely never see her reflect humbly on how much trust she put in a complete stranger w/r/t her daughter's unborn child, let alone the fact that she sicced a mobster on paul and emily (and I am still not convinced she didn't know the man was a bit of a thug) eom Linny
Yes, that's all I'm saying - would it kill Janet to say - OMG! My sweet Uncle Ralphie did this? OMG! That's all she has to say. That would exonerate Janet in my eyes. As it is, the only person whose faults she's pointed out is Jack for having a few beers. As I said in another post, even Terri showed far more concern and remorse over what her Uncle Ralphie did. ht
How many times have we heard, Margo, Lily, Emily, Kim, Katie, Lucinda, Rosanna, Barbara, Henry, Jack, Holden, Tom, Dusty, Craig, or Paul, apologizing for their bad decisions or hurt they caused another person? Did Bob ever apologize to Allison for the hell he put her through at the hospital? Did he apologize to Adam for almost killing him? Most apologies or admissions of guilt, if given at all, seem to take place off screen and we have to just assume that they happened or every one in Oakdale is just as bad a person as Janet is assumed to be. The only people who usually end up voicing their personal shortcomings have been people like Carly and Susan, the town pariahs at their lowest points. /Cricket
Those are bad examples because I can't stand when those folks do it either. Emma, Lucinda, Lily, Jack, you name it they all do it. The ones I despise are the ones who NEVER get called on it in the first place. Craig, Carly and even Lily (at times) get called on their crap regardless of whether they apologize and in Carly and Craig's case, when they do apologize they have to grovel and have it held over their heads for decades. With respect to Janet, it's forgotten within 24 hours. eom Linny
Oh...and Emily is constantly called on her crap as well and is usually made to either apologize or lose everything she holds dear (even if she gets it back in a year or so). eom Linny
In my opinion, the fact that Janet hasn't uttered a word of regret or shock that her dear Uncle Ralphie did these horrific things says ALOT!
It seems as if there always has to be one character who draws nothing but criticism, no matter what. Yes, it does seem that way. Perhaps it's because the writers prop certain characters deliberately in an effort to knock into our heads that they are ''good'' people, even though we have seen them make countless mistakes. You mentioned Jennifer, and she's a good example of what I mean. She slid into bed with Craig, but somehow she made it seem he took advantage of her. Then, she lied and manipulated to keep him away from his child. Even though Jennifer did her share of dirt, she was still treated like an angel. Then, there's a character like Katie who gets her share of criticism on this board because she, too, has done awful things, but folks in Oakdale act like butter wouldn't melt in her sweet little pink mouth. Now, here's Janet. The woman came to town trying to steal her baby's daddy from his wife. She then made a booty call arrangement with the same man's brother, whom she eventually got to marry her. Janet suddenly forgot her trashy ways the moment her daughter's pregnancy was revealed, and she became a self described ''crazy church lady.'' She is getting loads of much deserved criticism because the writers have chosen to completely change course with this character, even rewriting the overbearing heifer's history from time to time. So, please place blame where it is deserved, on the writing staff, for creating characters who become hypocritical and self-righteous, sparking reactions in the viewers. (eom) Mandi

Message: I realize that Janet was telling football stories to remind Katie that Brad is a fighter but all I could think was *does this woman ever shut up?* I have been in the same situation shown today and I would have been irritated at some big mouth in the background, no matter how well meaning it was.
Replies: (list all replies )
ICAM. I wanted to smack her. I almost posted something similar - her behavior was inappropriate, well-meaning or not. ht
I agree, katie need's peace and quiet. Being a loud mouth only stresses out a person more.
LOL..I was waiting to see Katie turn around and tell her to just shut-up. Her loud yammering..and in a hospital no less..was irritating as heck. tess
I'm so glad to know that I wasn't the only one who was telling Janet to shut up!!! She never stops talking! I realize she was trying to make people realize that Brad was a fighter but all I was thinking was how irritating Janet was. Bettybee
JJ is such a typical example of trash you have to believe that she really doesn't know any better....classless !!**
Right there with you. I was surprised Henry didn't tactfully suggest that perhaps she should zip it for a while. eom/D
I agree that Janet was terribly annoying. But haven't we all known people like that who handle stress by babbling on and on? It's like a nervous tic, something they find hard to control. Yes, maybe someone should have told her to stop, but that kind of reaction is just how some people react to things they can't change, and Janet, by nature, seems to be someone who carries her emotions very close to the surface.. /Cricket
OMG! I could not believe that woman's rambling and babbling at the top of her lungs while Katie stood there watching the failed attempts to revive her husband! I was sooo wanting one of them to tell her to shut the f*** up. How inappropriate and stupid her rambling was! Janet is as crude and trashy as they get. Roxie
