He also seems to have a *crush* on Jon Hensley who he thinks is *the best actor in all of daytime*. I take everything he says with a huge grain of salt.

SO!!! The actors talk about knowing that we will see through some of the crap they have to spout! I am SO glad to know that! How many times have we said, ''How could they deliver that line with a straight face? How many takes did it take? 112?'' heeheeheehee

Interesting. I liked alot of what she said, but there were definitely parts where she came off as really arrogant to me.

Class. I'm sure she could say far more than what she did.
Some people will criticize her for talking at all, but the truth is, Chris Goutman started this by running to the press immediately and trying to spin the story his way. Martha has the right to defend her reputation in the business.

Does anyone else think that Martha is writing a soap opera? If she is, I wonder if it is for ATWT or another new one all together. She said she was doing it for the fans. Her fans, or ATWT fans?

Since P&G doesn't see a long term future for soaps, I seriously doubt that anyone would be writing one w/them in mind. Then again, every other soap ownership is following P&G's lead. Notice that there aren't new soaps replacing those that have been cancelled or taken out of production. It takes years to develop a soap & 10-20 yrs for a soap to find its fanbase. No Suit out there sees soaps (or any other form of entertainment) as viable/profitable when they have to wait so long. They want instant gratification & don't see anything having viability over five years. That isn't long enough for a soap to prove itself! eom
Rosebud, she kept talking about the fans and giving them what they want. IMO she must be talking about soap fans or her own fans. Since you don't think she is referring to soaps, what do you think she is referring to??/ Sammie
Soap actors, & actors in general, tend to talk about their fans in glowing terms. They tend to feel appreciative of their fans, much more so than Corp. whether it is soap actors or those doing primetime or features. A strong fan following equals bankability for an actor & makes them much more valuable to Corp., generally speaking. However, P&G goes against the grain in this regard, disregarding fanbases on a pretty regular basis. That doesn't mean that the actors aren't appreciative of their fans though. Q ratings are still used in the industry to measure recognition levels for all performers & Corp. DOES tend to take those ratings seriously. I didn't say that MB wasn't talking about the fans. She probably was. But her Corp. bosses didn't seem to hold her fans in high regard, considering how they treated MB during contract negotiations. eom

From her take on the daytime medium, the fans, etc., Martha Byrne should be back on ATWT as either executive producer or even story consultant/writer. She could do a far better job than the hacks we currently have.
