Topic: Worst part about Colden/Carho? Holden's love handles

Additional Comments:

Come on.  You know you were thinking the same thing, esp. if you remember Holden's past days of chestacular glory from the 80's.  I haven't decided if I am annoyed, because I miss smokin' hot Holden and regret that all of us are getting old,  or if I am annoyed, because I expect a soap actor to pull it all together for shirtless scenes, esp. when his IRL wife, after having three babies, pulls it together to look smoking hot as Oakdale's resident cougar.

I am not saying he has to compete with the abs of steel that Chris sports or the other shirtless guys of Oakdale , i.e. Casey , Brad, and Noah, but Jack did pull it together quite nicely for his love scenes with Carly and Katie.

Just sayin', he had advanced warning and should have hit the gym more and hit the dessert cart less.

Hate to sound shallow, but I admit the same thing occurred to me during the scene. Of course I would rather have a great actor than a model, but Jon Hensley really isn't either, whereas he was once the hottest man in daytime bar none.

First, to equate this post with Ben's death is the very height of bad taste.  He was a troubled man, and it had zero to do with his looks.  He was well loved by fans ,and his death was a tragedy on many levels.

Second, the way this  show put Martha threw the wringer over her weight, I think Holden's apparent free pass to such expectations is fair game.  You don't think CG wouldn't read the riot act to Emily if she showed up as out of shape for a love scene with Casey?

If you think Holden looked just fine, good I'm glad, but until this industry ceases to harp on physical perfection for actresses, I am going to hold the dudes to the same standard.

  • I doubt that Ben, a troubled man, found any comfort in the snarky comments from some on this board regarding his hair/toupee, his speech, his false teeth, his looks, etc. And how do you think CZP felt about the few who critisized her speech before we learned of her mouth cancer? I agree with Lucinda Walsh. Negative comments about an actor's looks are unnecessary and thoughtless. eom/silver
  • Bad Taste? Bad taste is what your post is about. You've been around here long enough to know that Ben Hendrickson did know about the things that were being said about his appearance, especially his teeth which he was very self-conscience about. While I'm not saying that all the comments made about his looks is the reason for his suicide, it did contribute to his depression. Don't be so smug, cleary. The Martha weight thing has nothing to do with you.Just because TPTB put her through the wringer, does not give you carte blanche to do it someone else on the show for spite. Since Martha made it clear how hurtful it was to be thought of as heavy and out of shape in such a public way, I'd think you'd be more sensitive and think twice before being so judgemental./lucindawalsh
  • I also wanted to comment on your remark here. ''If you think Holden looked just fine, good I'm glad, but until this industry ceases to harp on physical perfection for actresses, I am going to hold the dudes to the same standard.'' Did you ever think that if the public stopped making comments about the miniscule imperfections of these actors and accepted all body types, the industry would change the standard of physical perfection? The industry only gives the public what it demands and posts like yours only reinforces what they think the public wants. /lucindawalsh

Clearly some of you people have learned nothing from the suicide of the dear Ben Hendrickson.

Everytime I see one these posts picking apart an actor's looks, an actor's age, an actor's non existant weight gain, I can't help but think of him and some of the hurt he went through.

I hope that cleary233 and some of the others who had a snide comment about JH's body never gets a second older and never gains even an ounce, because I'm sure that their gorgeous faces are line free and their bellies taut, toned and ripped.

I'm sort of glad to hear that women don't always have to have their guys with 6-pack abs, but soap guys are sort of required to be buffed up for love scenes.  Jon knew that scene was coming up for weeks and he could have buffed up a bit more and lost the love handles.  He isn't that old and Maura's body is smoken right now.

I think JH is just fine! Shirt on...shirt off...looks good to me. LOL I once saw a picture of him in a soap opera magazine. He was on the golf course in his golf shirt and wearing these cute glasses. I remember thinking how adorable he looked. He was laughing at something and I just thought, wow, Kelly is one lucky woman. So, guess what I am saying is he's a hottie in my book! :)

My hubby has got killer biceps and a bit of a belly and that is just the way that I like it.  I like to have something to hold onto.  I am not into that "greek god" look.  :)

I'm with ht, I'd take a real man's body anyday over all those abs.  MP lost weight and buffed up a tiny bit, he got too skinny, IMO.  I liked him better on the heavy side.

Yeah, I admit it...I chuckled at that paunch too. The guy doesn't need to be six-pack ready at all times, but wardrobe and the camera man could have left us with some of our illusions intact.  :)

I will take a real man any day. He looks dang good. I like a nice bod as much as the next woman, but I get very tired of these over-sculpted male bodies we see in the movies and on TV. They just ain't real honey.

I think he looked great. I liked his body and thought he was very sexy looking. Everybody ages, and in the real world, not too many men look that good. I didn't see any love handles, but if he had them, that's nothing compared to the real life guts and flab of real life men his age.

Maybe I'm crazy, but, I'd rather a man with a body like Holden to an overly sculpted body like Chris anyday.

Holden looked fit and healthy, IMO.
