The "never surrender" trip is turning out to be a huge disappointment, imo. I really had high hopes for this... I really did but, now I feel like I may have been suckered in by CG and his tricks. Let me explain... and if you disagree or agree with any of this I would love to read your thoughts.
It is the 13th today and Carly and Jack have had exactly one scene together... two scenes if you count talking on a walkie talkie. I thought sweeps was about Carly and Jack and them finding their way back to each other... and so far it is more about Jack blowing off everyone in Oakdale and Carly chasing after him. The scene at the end of today's show where Jack speeds away in a car, and Carly is running after him yelling... well, that is the perfect way to end this week because it is basically all we have seen up until now.. that scene sums it up very well.
My husband had a field day with me tonight. He often times teases me for watching soaps... he will catch bits and pieces as I watch on my dvr. Tonight was a banner night for him... you see my husband is a Nascar fan and he let it be known that Jack driving the car and winning the race was the stupidest thing he has ever seen. According to my husband there is no way Jack could compete in a race like that with professional drivers... the fact he actually won was laughable to him. It was very unrealistic to me as well but, I do not know much about race car driving so, I guess I tried to ignore all of that.
This trip has turned into "Super Jack".. not "never surrender". Jack seems to travel around like an angel, making sure everything he touches turns to gold. It did actually remind me of a show that was on in the 80's with Michael Landon, ... he was an angel that would drop into people's lives to fix everything for them. So far Jack has saved a man from jumping, won a race for a down and out Mike, who almost lost his house, and next week he saves Molly from crashing her car when her brakes fail, and he finds Simon to rescue Katie from a life of a being a grieving widow and single mother. Can anyone say... overkill?? I thought we were suppose to be seeing Jack differently.. you know Jack as a humbled, changed man who made a terrible mistake.. instead we are just being forced into more Jack worship... how disappointing!
I am disappointed so far with this storyline. I am trying to stay positive and next week does look better. Simon is back and we actually see Jack and Carly in the same place together.. so, I am really hoping it gets much better. Next week better improve greatly or else I have to admit that IMO, this road trip has been a bust. CG gave an interview that made this trip seem different than what it has actually been. I am starting to lose faith that TPTB will ever really get it... I almost feel jerked around a little so far. He said they were listening to the fans... but, I do not see proof of that. Again, I hope next week is better.

Message: I think the problem is the tour was overhyped. Back when it was just about Jack "finding himself", I didn't have a lot of hope for it. It was only when we found out Carly was added to the mix that it became a Carjack reunion tour.
I think it's better to think of it as a first step in the reunion---not the cementing force of one.

Message: I'm just worried about Mike being unconscious for so long. He was out like the proverbial light when Jack dragged him into the house, and was still dead to the world when Anna and Carly showed up--after Jack apparently changed clothes with him. That's not just unconscious--that's a damn coma!

Message: This storyline so far has been about Jack's journey. Not Carly's. Some of it has been hokey & yes disbelief on the NASCAR scenes were evident. I think TPTB have a goal in mind with Jack. His journey isn't just about forgiving himself but rediscovering himself. That's where Carly will come into play. I liked seeing Mike more thatn I thought & getting Molly back will be fun. Lastly the whole Simon & Carly storyline was never really resolved. I'm looking forward to it. In addition, one can say that both J&C will be on a road to rediscovering who they are & doing it together. This has been a small step to any arduous journey. I think it's been lots of fun.

Message: I'm right there with both you and your husband. I'm not a race car fan but I don't think you have to be to realize that neither Mike nor Jack would be winning some big race that would pay off a home mortgage. Someone in another thread brought up that it doesn't seem like Mike has had time to start and lose a new business, get married and have a baby just since his tryst with Lily...but those writers think we are all as brain dead as they are and think we don't actually notice!! The Oakdale Police department makes a mockery of law inforcement (and I do know this ...my husband has been in law enforcement for many years), the hospital scene makes a mockery of the medical and nursing profession (and I do know this..I've been in the medical profession for 40+ years), so why not Nascar...equal time!!! I hated the scene where Jack left Carly in the dust. I don't think she should be there in the first place..this SL isn't making any sense for me. The dots are not connecting. She's got pressing issues at home to take care of. He's not her concern any more and she needs to let him go have his epiphany by himself. And he is being obnoxious to her (deservedly so, but still not pretty). Go home Carly!! Then there is the big question? Even though lots of folks like Simon, Simon is a criminal that Jack didn't want Carly associating with, so connect the dots for me as to why he would want Simon back in Oakdale, and with all people, a grieving Katie? Please...please...connect my dots because I'm not capable of putting any of this together.
