At the racetrack, he was certain if Mike would be behind the wheel, given his shaky hand, -- he'd kill himself. Relieve Mike, and in the process, why not take over and kill himself.
If he takes time out to either say hello or goodbye to Carly -- that may soften his resolve, and then he wouldn't be able to continue this nasty little quest of his.

He said his goodbyes to both Ben and Mike. He just happened to say goodbye to Mike and Anna before the race.
Ironically, it's only Carly he hasn't said goodbye to.
It's kinda fun in a way, but it's such a complete copy of Highway to Heaven. The one thing that is making it hard for me to really get into it, is that all of these former characters are just temporary. It's nice to see them again, but when you know aleady that they are not going to be long term, it kinda takes the excitement out of it. It makes it hard to develop any liking to Mike's new wife and the mystery child. We didnt even see the mystery child and may never see Mike again. I can understand Carly chasing him all over the U.S...........The direction they are going with that is that Jack will have a realization that Carly really is the woman for him. Then maybe he will come back and dump the shrew and life will be happy in Oakdale again. But wait, we still have to get a man for Katie. Would'nt you think that Jack, being Brad's brother would at least hope that Katie would mourn his brother for a while, before having the ready replacement.

It is hilairious when you think about it. Of course if Jack behaved rationally and said his goodbyes and explained to Carly that he was fine and assured her she could go home- Carlys excuse to run after Jack at Parkers request would go *poof* and all this cough incredible dramatic tension cough would evaporate. Not to mention how much more sense it would make but whatever. LOL
If I had not turned in my carjack card long ago- this viewer would be pi$$ed.
Don't you know the routine? Super-Jack never stays around after the good deed to collect the thanks. He's off to save the next poor human who needs his service.
Didn't you watch the Saturday morning cartoons when you were a kid?
