Although I haven't yet seen this episode to know what you are talking about in full detail, I stayed at a high end hotel this past weekend.  There were many trick or treaters on Halloween night.  They even had pizza for the adults.

They did they same thing last year. Janet took Sage there because Sage was setting her up and asked to go in but the place was still prepared to give out candy to kids. Just like Johnny lives there, people do have children with them in hotels. No I don't think any hotel would allow them to just roam the halls knocking on all doors. I would expect either designated hallways or a party room.

Lisa must have been having a "senior moment" when she allowed that!

It's just WRONG and it would never happen in a high-end establishment. People who choose to live in a residential hotel factor security into their decision. A bunch of random people tramping through wearing disguises and carrying sacks isn't exactly an optimal condition for hotel security. Then there's the little matter of the hotel's liability for the safety of the trick-or-treaters. What an enormous can of worms that opens up.

  • There are all sorts of high end, residential hotels that have families w/kids, so I don't find it so unbelieveable that there wouldn't be kids coming to the door. I live near several high end apartments & new residential parts of hotels, they get lots of kids trick or treating. eom
  • I'm with D.-- this does NOT happen at any of the luxury residential hotels I've heard of, and I can't believe Lisa would ever allow it. eom MaryHatch
  • rosebud, tonight I suggest you go and spend a couple of hours sitting in the lobby of one of those residential hotels near your place, and count the trick or treaters you see coming in and actually getting in the elevator to go door to door. Let me know how many are allowed past the lobby to disturb the residents and guests. eom/D

There are actually many high end hotels that have residence floors as well as guest rooms.  I can see there being trick-or-treaters in that case.  However, most of the rooms we see at the Lake View do appear to be guest rooms.

The Lakeview seems to be more an apartment building than hotel these days.

Given that there are residences within the hotel, it doesn't seem that unbelieveable to me.  Besides, it is one of the more believeable aspects to the show in a long time!

  • Rosie, since you have been declaring for years that it is normal and that a majority of families actually live in hotels and raise their families there, I would expect that you would find this trick-or-treating at a hotel as the norm and 'most believable'. But most of us who live in the real world find this out of the ordinary! RME.....Roxie
  • Roxie: I have NEVER said that the majority of people live in residence hotels! Ever. What I have said is that it isn't as uncommon as you seem to believe. We have had several residence hotels in Seattle & we have a growing number of hotels w/apartments/condos connected to them. They aren't for transients, nor are they just for the wealthy or the childless. We have a growing number of urban condos in downtown areas in Seattle & surrounding communities. You think that the kids living in those buildings don't 'do' Halloween?! What about the kids who live in NYC apartments & condos?! Not everyone lives in a single family home these days. In fact, most of the new construction in my area IS condos. eom
  • *sigh* A condo building is not a hotel. You're the only one here talking about condos. eom/D
  • D: I'm talking about residences/condos that are part of a hotel complex. They DO exist. There are also hotels that have long term residence facilities. These aren't always cut off from all activities. What about the kids who are living in those facilities w/family? They aren't strangers walking in off the street. Most of the people that would be going to the Lakeview for Halloween would be people most of the residents & staff would know! eom
