Topic: why is liberty supposed to be in isolation?

Additional Comments:

i missed a couple of shows, so i admit that i am not up to date on everything that has happened, but i thought that i heard someone mention something about liberty being in complete isolation. if this is the case, why is janet sending clothes and other things to someone who wouldn't be able to use them. if you are in strict isolation, you are not allowed to come in contact with things that are not sterile. so what's up. did i misunderstand, or are the writers just making up stupid medical stories again?

The reason they have her in isolation is because they are giving her very strong Chemo I would imagine and the chemo destroys your immune system for the time being. It kills all of your white cells and you are completely vulnerable to any infection that comes along.
This is much more realistic than when Johnny received a bone marrow transplant and was out eating ice cream the next day. That just isn't the way it works.
This isn't as realistic as it could be but then I don't think we want to see Liberty throwing up all the time. LOL.
They are doing a better job than they usually do. It isn't all like it really is in this situation but at least you get the idea and it isn't just being glossed over. Dying one day and completely well the next. That always drives me crazy!!

This is no different than Barbara's burn story. Everything for her would have had to go through a sterilization process too, but that wasn't deemed important to the story, so they took 'artistic license' & had family & friends walking in & out without masks, gloves or booties.

Having had a friend's brother go through months of this kind of thing, I can honestly say that once his personal items were sterilized, he was allowed to have them when he was in isolation waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

I guess they figure that being isolated may help in her treatment. The clincher for me, and I am so surprised that no one else mentioned it, was when that sorry excuse for a human (JANET) called her yesterday and Parker answered the phone. Then she asked, can I talk to Liberty. Parker said she was sleeping, but if she wasnt, what was Parker going to do. I doubt that Parker (not in isolation) is sharing the same phone as Libby. If Parker has Libby's cell phone, wouldnt it have to be sterile before she grabbed it to take a call? She probably has a landline in her sterile bubble that has a separate phone number. I hate to even talk about Janet anymore, or this particular situation would have had me jumping on the board to generate a new topic, the second this little incident happened. Janet is the most selfish, self serving, not to mention, over-the-top obnoxious person I have ever laid eyes on.

What the hell is she doing pining over Jack, Dusty and her quest to be pregnant, when her daughter is in isolation within a mega second of ATWT time travel, away from her? I can answer that one in a heartbeat. Because she is Janet.

  • I just have to believe it's lazy, sloppy writing. I get that Juicy is a complete doofus, but I want to believe even someone of her limited intellect would know anything that comes into contact with Liberty would need to be sterilized. As for the phone conversation, we weren't supposed to notice little details like Parker handing Liberty the phone. We were just supposed to feel mama bear's pain. I felt nothing because the idiot should have been with her child. (eom) Mandi
