I thought it was a fluke at first, and so didn't really comment.
But we've really been seeing much more of Tom, Margo, Lisa and Babs now, and I couldn't be happier about it. It really seems like it's maybe a REAL thing now! I'm hoping so, cuz the show has just been SO much better! These characters not only have history, they have depth to them! I'm really enjoying the SLs they are on, and am hating the new SLs without them (Coldumb and JJ/Brad/Fluff/Liberty/Parker/Jack.
It's hard for me to believe the writers can do so great on some storylines, while others are just awful! Do they maybe use groups of writers for each SL, and some of the writers are great while others are like 3rd graders????
It has been great seeing Kim and Bob on a regular basis. I was shocked when Bob went to Lisa to ask a favor. "Anything for you" said Lisa. That was the first time in a long time that their past could even be thought about. I had hoped that went Bob woke from his coma he'd think he was still married to Lisa. They could have done that for one episode and given the vets something to play. Kim being understanding, Lisa wanting to help but realizing that she still cares about Bob in a way she would never allow anyone to know. And Nancy knowing all too well that Lisa was secretly enjoying Bob thinking they were married way too much.
The best stoyline that Nancy had was when she said she wrote Oakdale Confidential and Lisa got her feelings hurt over some of the things that described her in it. It could have gone longer than one episode, because seeing Lisa being mad at Nancy was really fun to watch.
I watch because of the vets.

Message: All I can say is, someone must have a gun to Chris Goutman's head. I can't think of any other reason he would feature these vets to the degree he has lately. So much screen-time for Tom and Margo, and Lisa has had more lines in the past two months than she's had in the past five years combined! Something is up here. I think it's more-or-less an open secret that Goutman doesn't like Eileen Fulton or Scott Holmes. Why in the world are they suddenly featured?
Changes like this usually coincide with changes behind the scenes, like a new head-writer or new executive producer. But that isn't the case here. So, what has made Goutman see the light? I'd love to know. In the mean time, I'm loving it!

Message: We still aren't seeing quality in the material the vets are being given to work with! I don't want to see all-harpie-all-the-time Margo & Tom. I also don't want to see Kim & Bob playing second fiddle to the likes of Chris--failing to see their son's flaws that are more than evident to everyone else! This isn't even a step up from Dr. Bob getting those 'meaty' comatose storylines that prop up characters like Chris & Dr. Rick.
Casey should have moved out of his parents' house long ago. I don't buy him sticking around, given all the grief they've been giving him about working for Emily, etc. Ex-cons take work where they can get it--both Tom & Margo should know that he (& they) need to suck it up until he establishes himself as a solid employee. The alternative to working for Emily could easily be begging on a street corner, which isn't something two people w/such high profiles in town would consider a viable alternative.
