I just read in two articles (can't remember which ones),but they said that the reason that Jack is going on this "guilt" journey is to find a man for Katy. That' s why is goes looking for Mike and Simon. He feels guilty because she needs a man and a father for her son.
I'm sorry, but I was really hoping that this trip was about Jack and his guilt of killing his brother. It should have been about Jack realizing he isn't a god and bringing him back to reality about his life. This could have been a great soul-searching journey, but they are going to make it all about Katy AGAIN. And don't even get me started on Brad's ghost and Henry being a medium beetween Brad and Katy. That hasn't started yet and I'm already starting to cringe.

I too am reserving judgment for the time being. The premise that Jack needs to find Katie a man to make up for the his killing Brad is hare-brained enough to be symptomatic of some kind of larger emotional earthquake on Jack's part. It's not a rational course of action, so I'm thinking a lot of irrational energy and soul searching will have to accompany the journey with a post-rehab hopefully newly insightful Carly there to help the process.
If it does turn out to be all about making Jack feel better rather than about his self-examination, then I too will be very disappointed.
There's always ample room for me to be disappointed and Lord knows I certainly have been in the past, but there seems to be a much better feel to the way the stories are being positioned than in the recent past, so I'm going to go along with what they're doing as much as I can.
We'll see.

Message: I am also taking a *wait and see* attitude to this SL. I think that Katie should be a part of this journey, as others have said. I just also want to see Jack do some serious soul-searching about the kind of person he has become, and realize that he's not a saint who is all-knowing and great. Some of that already came out in his crazy scene with Craig. I REALLY hope the writers handle this right. I'd love to be able to cheer on CarJack, but Jack has to go thru some major attitude adjustment for me to want him with Carly again.

Message: I hope you are all right about the journey only being partiallly about Katy. I can handle that. I just don't want the next few weeks about finding katy a man and Brad's ghost talking to Katy through Henry. That's a little too much Katy for me. I would love a story about Jack's soul searching. If written carefully, it could really be worthwhile.

Message: I understand and share your concern, but I'm reserving judgment until it plays out. Jack married Katie knowing deep down that he still loved Carly, and now he feels he's taken her husband away, too. I can handle this story being partly about Katie-- I just can't handle it being all about Fluffy. Know what I mean? LOL.

Message: I think you've got a very limited focus on what the story is. The journey is because of the guilt Jack feels. That he ends up trying to bring someone into Katie's life isn't the entire point of the story, I'm sure.

Message: I think initially that is what Jack is attempting to do. It is irrational but under the circumstances if you look closer the past characters that Jack meets up with is a link not only to Katie but himself as well & Carly. At some point Jack will get it but I for one can't wait for the journey to begin. This may sound like a cliche but Jack & Carly's journey to find their souls is ATWT's journey as well.
