Topic: I'm liking Noell

Additional Comments:

I'm thrilled Noell has taken over the role of Lily. Ever since Chris Goutman came on as EP, Martha Byrne has expected a front-liner story at the expense of other actors and vets. All of the sudden, she wasn't the golden child anymore, pitched a tantrum, and has now vacated a job she's had for years.

How did that work out for Kathie Lee Gifford?? Yes, Gifford is on the tenth hour of the Today show, but no one cares.

Glad to have Noell back on daytime.

Sometime a change is good, in life as well as on a TV show.  Perhaps it was in MB's best interests that she have an opportunity to try other roles.  She is in a play I understand. I wish her the best and am sure that she will continue to have a successful career.  I like the recast and hope that all Martha's fans will accept the character and give the actress a chance.

Sorry, but you have some of your information wrong. MB did not *demand* anything, she simply asked to be in the same number of episodes as the year before since she took a paycut the year before that. *Demanding* and *asking* have different meanings.

At least this NuLily person looks old enough to be the mother of Luke which MB didn't, in my opinion.

Where did you get your information about Martha?  I have not read that anywhere else.

  • Martha demanded the number of episodes she would be in, which is ridiculous. You don't know how storylines are gonna go throughout a year, and can't guarantee and actor the # of episodes. I can't blame Goutman for not caving in to her absurd demands. eom
  • I guess Martha never bothered to observe H Wagner, B Hastings, E Fulton, P Bruder, L Brygman, K Hays, M Masters, and CZP to see that storylines erode in later years, but at least it's good work, strong fanbase, and a steady paycheck. caj
  • ATWTFan: That simply isn't true. Every contract player has a minimum guaranteed number of episodes per cycle in their contract. Everyone. Storylines are planned 12-18 mths in advance, so between the guarantees & the Bible, TPTB know approximately how many episodes an actor will be used in over a twelve month period, but it is an average. They can go over the guaranteed number of episodes, TPTB aren't limited to that. The number that MB was asking for wasn't outrageous and it wasn't CG who 'caved', it was his bosses who keep trying to do everything on the cheap these days--and it shows. Vets are more expensive & this isn't the first time that Corp. made 'offers' that were far below what a performer was worth &/or wanted. Just like before, TPTB (Corp) would love for the fans to buy into the idea that MB was being 'uppity' & over-valueing her worth. Hopefully, MB will move on to other things & do well. eom
  • ATWT Fan, Martha's *demands* were not absurd. She had already taken a pay cut the year before and only asked for the same amount of episodes for the upcoming contract. Not unreasonable at all! And yes, TPTB could have guaranteed # of episodes. MB was treated like dirt, just like other good and talented actors (Scott B for instance) and there's no excuse.
