Subject: I think for his whole 'adult' life he's been 'in love' with Lily and has been willing to stand by her through all of her needs and wants, and she has taken that for granted and now they are both realizing she no longer has that hold over him. It is this realization, not 'Carly' that will end Lily and Holden. In love with vs loving has torn many a relationship apart, it just isn't the same thing. Lust has destroyed many a marriage, but the whole point of Holden and Carly becoming 'friends' was that it isn't just lust or sex..it was the development of a relationship between to people who have been used and abused often by the ones they loved the most. What followed..the sex..was pretty predictable. I don't believe either of them has had time to be 'in love' with each other, but it sure seems that Carly isn't necessarily 'in love' with Jack anymore, either. Holden might just be her path to moving on. Again, I'm not sticking up for their behavior, just thinking the story line is very believable. Life is full of love, hate, betrayal...makes the world go round!
