Subject: MW has done the LA thing. I doubt that, w/a family & a life on the east coast, she would be at all interested in picking up & trying LA again. Besides, by Hollywood standards, she has been doing soaps too long. They would identify her as 'a soap actress over 30', which doesn't lend itself to lots of doors opening. eom

Subject: Since the OP is suggesting that Maura get a job on another soap, I doubt being a *soap actress over 30* would be a hinderance. Also, are you certain that MW has *done the LA thing*? Because she doesn't seem to have a single acting credit on her resume besides ATWT. eom/D

Subject: D., I don't think she did the L.A. thing either. When she left the first time to have her baby, she was only gone a year and a half. She was a new mom during that time so I can't see her out pounding the pavement.

Subject: When she was gone she & her then husband moved to LA. She talked about relocating back to the east coast when she came back to ATWT. Just because she doesn't have credits for other things listed on her resume doesn't mean that she wasn't looking or that she didn't do things that aren't listed. Quite often actors do projects where they aren't credited or they do things that they don't add to their resume. But like it or not, casting directors & producers don't look kindly on actors who have done more than a few yrs on a soap &/or are recognized primarily for their soap opera work. eom

Subject: D: The soap opportunities are shrinking. If MW wanted to stay on the east coast, that further shrinks the possibilities for a soap job. The days of having 12+ soaps on the air at any given time are, right now, dead. That could always change, but I doubt it. There is no guarantee that MW (or any other actor) would be any happier on another soap, where most of the same problems exist. There isn't a soap out there right now that is living up to its potential or being true to itself & its history. eom

Subject: That all may be perfectly true, but it doesn't alter the fact that MW being a soap actress over 30 wouldn't be any hinderance to her getting hired on another soap. eom/D
