  • That is me too. I am a compulsive hand washer and I don't like shaking peoples hands, especially people I don't know. If I am at a function where there is a lot of handshaking in the back of my mind I am obsessed with the thought of getting to the bathroom to wash my hands. When I am preparing a meal I am constantly washing my hands. I have tried not to be that way but I cannot help it. I also cannot stand for things to be out of place. My brothers make fun of me. Those are the only two things I am obsessed about./Sammie
  • After reading the lists of examples on that website, I can say I'm more compulsive than obsessive, but I do have problems with both. My biggest ones are counting, list making then going through everything on the list over and over to make sure I didn't forget anything (and God help me when I have to pack luggage for a vacation!) and making sure windows and doors are locked and that nothing is sitting against a heater before I go to bed. If I watch tv in bed and get up to use the bathroom, I go through the routine again. If I then lay awake too long because I can't fall asleep, I get up and do it again. I've recently broken the habit of, if I wake up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, I check again. But, the before bed routine is still the same. eom, Shannon L.
  • Count me in as OCD too! It's mostly the having things orderly and symmetrical. I drive myself nuts! Everything has to be symmetrical or I do get distressed. I do alot of counting, checking and arranging. I'm worse at work than at home. It all has to be in perfect order or I have a panic attack. If one thing is not exactly in the right place, it freaks me out and upsets my world! LOL! Roxie
