I like the names but can you have a nickname for it out of the original name? Here's examples of my pets.
Grace - English Pointer - I call her Gracie quite a bit.
Our 2 cats - follow me here. My oldest cat is named Raptor after the dinosauer. (sp). He lives up to his name because he's a huge mouser. We call him Rapinator (after The Terminator) and Rappy when we're loving on him.
Other cat I rescued when she was only 8 weeks old. We swore it was a male so we named "him" TRex to go with Raptor. Then we found out he's a she, and we just call her Rex or Rexie.
One of my dogs was named Sophie and I called her Sophia Maria for some reason.
We have a boston terrier named duchess, and we call her Duchy or Dutch Chocolate.
I guess I like playful names for pets. Our neighbor got a kitten and named her Barbara. We were ROTFLOL at the choice of names.
Hi everyone! Thank you for all your suggestions! You all are very creative. I did look into the paint chips... great idea. I also looked into mountain names, as well as wine names. I did finally decide on Tacoma for quite a few reasons:
My sister's puppy (the brother to mine) is named Denali after the tallest mountain in Alaska. Tacoma is the tallest mountain in Washington (Mt. Ranier's original name was Tacoma before it was renamed after an explorer, hence the city of Tacoma at the base of the mountain). Also, the indian name Tacoma means "Snowy Mountain". That pretty much sealed the deal for me, since this dog basically is a "Snowy Mountain". And a final neat little added extra is that both my sister and my dog's names are names of vehicles as well. Nothing like keeping it in the family!
Thanks again, everyone for helping me out!

I did some research on the actual mountain range that must connect spain and france and italy. Perhaps you can find a name relating to the mountains.
Highest mountain in the Pyrenees is a mountain called "Aneto"
Tavascan is a ski resort in the Pyrenees. You could call him "Tav"
"Punta del Sabre" is one of the higher points in the Pyranees. You could call him "Saber"
Believe it or not, there's a peak in the Pyrenees called "Collarada" --which kind of fits into your theme of Western States, but still has a Spanish Mountain range connection.
Similarly, there is a mountain pass in the French part of the mountains called "Col D'Aspin". You could call him "Aspin" and explain why you are spelling it with an "i" instead of an "a"
