Additional Comments: So did anyone have big plans this weekend?  We just stayed inside the house most of the time.  Wind blew like crazy here where I live - up to 60 miles an hour yesterday.  Started out  windy today, but has calmed down a little.  So, no cooking outside for us....

Here in Canada, we had our long weekend last Monday. So it was business as usual for us--happy to have the kids back at school!

My daughter, grandkids and I went to a mall in Rancho Cuquamonga (sp) called Victoria Gardens.  Not a very patriotic thing to do but it was fun.  Lots of speciality shops and we had lunch at a Johnny Rocket's old fashioned restaurant (ate outside).  It was a nice California day, cooler than usual but nice.  Better than the heat wave of the previous wkend.

The tornadoes are awful in the center and midwest.  Stay safe, those of you who live in that area.

We pretty much stayed at home.   I filled up my little subaru on Thursday and it cost almost 60 bucks, so there wasn't anyplace really worth spending more gas money to get to!

Youngest son came home for a  4 day weekend, but ended up taking a 24 hour trip to Asheville with the girlfriend, her parents, her brother and their little dog, too.  All in one car. I think it was, well, an EXPERIENCE for him!   Cooked out every night; steak, then pork chops, then dogs.  cleaned out the garage. Cleaned out the basement.

Back to work tomorrow.  I need the rest!

  • Oh my....the price of gasoline!! Here where I'm at, it's 3.80 a gallon now. Like you, it takes about 60 dollars to fill up. You were pretty busy this weekend - sounds like you got a lot done though. I was finally able to get outside and work in the yard a little bit. The winds have played havoc with our trees. We have fallen limbs everywhere....one is really huge. I need to take off tomorrow and finish the yard work (that is if the wind doesn't blow.) Deb

We're having crazy weather here in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Last Monday the high was 114 and Saturday the high was 71. It rained most of the day Friday and Saturday, here where we go months without rain. I feel bad for all the boaters who have driven over from the LA area. Today it's a bit better, high in the mid seventies. However, neither the weather nor the high gas prices have kept them away. We don't go downtown during Memorial Day, because the traffic is so bad. So we're spending a quiet day at home, too.

I keep thinking about all the people in the midwest what with all the tornadoes. Hope everyone is safe.

  • This really is crazy weather this year what with all the tornadoes. Seems like everytime I turn on the news there is another storm. The last storm I heard about there was a two year old killed....just terrible. Thank goodness, even though we're near the Texas panhandle, we haven't had that type of severe weather - mainly good old West Texas sandstorms. Deb
  • Hi Deb, I grew up in Lubbock, so I know all about those sandstorms, not to mention tornadoes! Where do you live?
