I think it's Cipro and Levaquin which made the news this week about a very strange side effect that can linger for a long time. That being your tendons can suddenly tear without warning, especially the Achilles Heel! People end up having major surgery and lots of rehab for this.
Monday I was put on Levaquin for a respiratory infection. I saw this on the news on Tuesday but I only had five pills total to take, one a day.
I kid you not, this morning out of the blue when I was using my wrist, something snapped in it, I could tell it was a soft tissue and not the bone. It did it twice! Never before has this happened. So I threw away my last pill. Too bad this can happen now even though I've stopped taking it. Now I'm afraid to move. LOL

Canna, I got Cipro prescribed for me once. We were on the way to the drugstore, when I saw the generic name, which was oxyquonalone (or something like that). That got me to thinking about the book Bitter Pills I had read years before, and I thought it may have been related, so I didn't get it filled. Went home and looked, and sure enough! It was fluourquonalone (whatever), but all of them related can REALLY mess people up! I called the doctor back and told him it gave me a rash (2 birds there! One is, got a different Rx; Two is, they put me down as ALLERGIC so they won't give it to me again)! I was not about to argue with them about it. I know they'd tell me how safe it is, yada yada yada! Fraid not! I READ THE BOOK!!! I'm sure they didn't!
And we know how much money the people in the FDA make when they leave the FDA and go work for the drug companies. We're not totally stupid like they think we are!
I'd be sure to tell the doctor you had a reaction to it, that you don't want to take it again!
