Topic: Mother's Day

Additional Comments: What will everyone be doing this Mother's Day?  I think we're just going to cook some steaks on the grill and enjoy being home.  I've had to take my mother to the doctor several times this week and so I won't be driving to see her.  (My parents live 60 miles from me, but they come to the doctor here where I live.  So....I have to drive 60 miles to their home, bring them back here and then drive them back home and then come back home....makes for a very, very long day.)  With gas prices being what they are, I can't afford to drive down a third time in one week.  My mother-in-law lives just down the street so she'll be coming to spend the day with us.  Looking forward to steak and baked potatoes.

Maggiemae: I really feel for you, not being able to spend time with your daughter. It must be very difficult to be that far away, and I'm sure that you wish she would find the time to see you. Hopefully, you will get some Mother's Day wishes on the phone.

To all of you who have lost you mother, I feel for you too. I'm a giant emotional nerve today! Mothers should be celebrated everyday. By far, the HARDEST job in the world.  Have a good one, everybody!

Deb,

Could you possibly go to where your mother lives and take her out Mothers Day? If she is not well, you never know how long you'll have her with you. Also, you could take dinner with you as I know eating out can be pricey. I'm sure Janey will agree that you should be with her as much as you can while she is here.

We'll not be doing anything special. My daughter lives 300 miles away and leads such a busy life that they don't come over here. I drove over there (LA) once in March and once in April. Since I'm almost 70, it takes a lot out of me to drive over there. I probably won't be going again until Christmas. In past years I've gone over for a month in summer and rented an apartment, but I can't leave my husband that long any more. So I'll just stay home and have a pity party. LOL.

Deb. What a good daughter to help out with your Mom's doctor's appts.  Sorry she is not well.  My Mom passed away this passed Feb so this will be my first Mother's Day without her.  I have been handling her death pretty well but at times like this, I keep thinking what I should get her for M.D. and then I realized that she isn't here any longer to get a gift.

My dil is a gourmet cook, so our family is going to her house for filet mignon, crab and asparagus.   My daughter who loves to bake is bringing a 'surprise' desert.  Looking forward to it.  Hope everyone has a great Mother's Day!
