In an effort to get a topic going that isn't so heavy, I'll tell you what I do with all the twist ties my husband saves.
I put up the Christmas tree lights every year and I use the twist ties. I attach the lights to the fence with the ties. I also staple the ties to the wood just below the roof and then use the ties to attach the lights.
So let's hear something inventive you've thought of.

I use the plastic covers that the daily newspapers come in to clean up my dog's poop when we go for a walk. It kind of fits like a long plastic glove that you can invert once you get the poop and then you can roll it up and throw it in the trash can in the park or by the lake. Kind of gross but practical.
I also use the plastic grocery store bags or the bags from Target to line my wastebaskets in the house and then just tie them up when full and take them out to the trash containers. It saves a lot of mess in the wastebaskets and the bags are essentially free unlike the liners you have to buy.

Message: I sprinkle baking soda on the clean drip pans on my stove-lot's easier to clean when they become dirty. Baking soda paste gets rid of coffee/tea stains in white cups too.

Message: I cut the ends out of old tube socks and used them to cradle Christmas tree decorations. I stuffed the tops into off-season shoes to help them keep their shape.
