Topic: Augusta Dabney, actress on early Another World, has died

Additional Comments: I don't know if she was an original cast member of Another World or if she joined the show after its premiere, but actress Augusta Dabney, who played Mrs. Baxter on the show during its early years, has recently died.

Message: While I'm sure there a lot of younger AW fans who don't know who Ms Dabney was, but not everyone has forgotten her. She was a soap staple! There was a reason why she did so many soaps, she did them well. I've missed her for a long time.

Message: Very sad that no one on this board remembers Augusta Dabney. She was a major part of AW's first important storyline. In 1964, Pat Matthews became pregnant by her boyfriend, Ted Baxter. And, Ted encouraged Pat to have an illegal abortion. After having the "first abortion on network television" (yes, it was Pat Matthews, NOT Erica Kane), Pat sorta went crazy for a while, and killed Ted -- Shot him, I think.
Augusta Dabney played Laura Baxter, Ted's mother. She was instrumental in that early storyline.
So, all true AW fans should take a moment of pause -- whether you remember her, or not -- to recognize the wonderful actress, Augusta Dabney, and her contribution to Another World, as well as many other daytime dramas.
She will be missed by old-timers like me.
