I see the board is kind of quiet. Let's get something going with movie reviews. What movies have you guys seen lately? Maybe you can recommend a good one or steer us away from some stinkers. I recently saw Black Book. This is Dutch director Paul Verhoeven's movie set in Holland during the take over by the nazis in WW2. It's all in Dutch so there are subtitles. This subject matter is very personal for me since my parents were holocaust survivors. It was fun to see how much Dutch I could understand without reading the subtitles. Thie movie was very gripping and violent. The charcters were so real and there were times I actually was horrified by the things I was watching. It's based on true events so I knew this was not a director making things up. I recommend it but leave the kids at home! Ok, your turn.

Hi Carolyn! I just finished a very, very busy three weeks at a medical transcription job and have the next two weeks off - and we will use that time to work on my MIL's former home to fix it up to sell it! Oh, how I wish we were off for a nice long vacation.
However, I do confess that I love to escape watching movies via Netflix. I am very disappointed in the summer reality tv season - or maybe I am just getting tired of reality tv, so I find myself watching more movies lately. Recently I snuck into my old movie collection that I own and watched Marie Antoninette with Norma Shearer and Tyrone Power. I love old movies!
Netflix moves I have watched recently, and enjoyed very much, were The Holiday with Kate Winslet and Jude (sigh) Law and Letters from Iwo Jima - a spectacular movie watched it with Dad today, a WW II veteran - he was in occupied Japan and he taught me tolerance, as he really felt for the ordinary Japanese citizen who thought we were the monsters! This movie illustrated that point beautifully and it is a must-see. We also have The Painted Veil, and we plan on watching that - when we get the time! I will definitely check out your movie!
Have a wonderful vacation and travel safe! Thanks for posting a topic here to keep things going!!
