Wow!  Ya'll amaze me!   I found this storyline to be totally gripping, intense and heartwrenching.   I had tears dripping down my face when they showed the clips of the children, and when I saw the picture of Katie in his dead hand, I totally lost it!   Storm went way off the deep end and tried to kill steffers.   They got him out of it and got him help.  He obviously wasn't having as much help as he needed.  Leave it to Brooke to think once or twice a week is sufficient!   Through Brooke's selfish intervention, he started dating a really nice girl that he fell for.   He was upset about how she'd react when she found out, as he should have been.  He was ticked that Ridge might have told her first, as he would have put the worst spin possible on it, and he wanted to put the best possible on it.  He got REALLY stupid, and got a gun and had it in his pocket, and thought in some really stupid, misguided way it would help her understand!   Totally stupid thing to do; more intensive therapy would probably have helped with that stupidity.  THE MAN SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN A HOSPITAL, NOT OUT ON THE LOOSE!   His family should have had him put away in a private hospital, but they didn't.   They preferred to close their eyes and hope the situation would get better.  It ended in a very tragic accident, in which he fatally hurt a sister that he loved more than life.  And in order to resurrect that sister from the death that she should and would have experienced, he shot himself in the head, so that she would have his heart and live.  COWARDLY????   That was an incredibly BRAVE thing he did!!!  Greater love hath no man than that he would lay down his life for the sister he had just pretty much killed!

This storyline was done exceptionally well, and the acting was just superb!  Storm was heartwrenching!

What gives here?   I THOUGHT I WAS THE JADED ONE AROUND HERE!!!!

In my opinion, it was a really selfish thing to do.  Storm has always 'taken care' of his sisters, but now he wants to put them through the most imaginable grief possible.  Brooke has just come from an emotional low from thinking her sister is dying, to finding her brother dead ont he floor.  By his own hand.  Yes, she puts it together pretty quickly that Storm wants to give Katie his heart, but it was still a cowardly, selfish act.

  • Well said. ~i&b
  • Brooke had just told him, that the Police was coming for him. For Steph's shooting and now the shooting of his sister. I guess he figured, instead of spending the rest of my life in Prison, I take the easy way out, and kill myself, like a coward. I don't think there was any way for him to know with certainty his heart would be a match for Katie.
  • you know i&b, it always reminds me of the song from M*A*S*H where they sing
  • While Storm's act might be viewed as ''selfish'' and ''cowardly'' - at least it's believable (IMHO) for the character to do something like this given the recent portrayal of his psychological-emotional state. Even in the early days, one of Storm's problems always seemed to be his heightened superego - acting to achieve some kind of ideal or perfection as he viewed it. (In Storm's case this was his attempt to be a substitute father for his three sisters.) And many Freudians believe that an overdeveloped superego may be implicated in some suicides. As author Judith M. Stillion writes in her book entited, Suicide Across the Life Span: Premature Exits: ''People who have adopted perfectionist standards and whose ego ideal is out of reach set themselves up for constant interpsychic conflict. Such conflict uses up so much of their available energy that they have less and less available for coping with everyday demands and for growth. They thus become even less like their ego ideal, are further from meeting their own standards each day, suffer more guilt, and anxiety, and experience more interpsychic conflict. This type of downward spiral may be difficult to break, and may account, at least in part, for the narrow, rigid, and unrealistic thinking seen among some potential suicides. The superego is said to operate according to the perfection principle: that is, its governing rule is to seek out the perfect and to reject anything less than absolute perfection. This would be summed up by statements that continually dwell on perceived failure as they say things like, 'It's just never enough. I never have enough to give everyone who needs it. I always fail everyone sometime in some way.' '' ... Wasn't Storm basically saying things like this during the whole ''I shot Stephanie'' reveal?
  • And how was he going to be a comfort to his sisters? I think it is easy for us to call suicide a cowardly act, but I have compassion for those who are at such a point that they think there is no way out. Everyone on this board has been saying for weeks that Storm is unbalanced, and then, because of his irrational thinking, and Katie's brash actions, he ends up nearly killing one of the three people who care about him. He believed he was doing the only thing he could for Katie, and I have compassion for his character. Nothing but, in fact. heck
  • I agree heck, faced with life in prison he at least chose to try and save his sister!!! It was a desperate act by a desperate man but fortunately he WAS a match. Sad for the Logans!!! Laura
  • Yeah to clarify, I don't agree with the view that it was cowardly or selfish. Storm had psychological problems.
  • bingo, Storm had had a tissue match with Katie for the kidneys. I would think he would have every right to believe that this would mean his heart was also a match!!!!!! fee
  • It's not that simple. There's a lot more that goes into it, especially when you're talking about a male to female transplant. Male organs are usually larger and don't always fit into the chest cavity of a female.. ~i&b
  • fee, yes he was a tissue match for the kidney, but does that automatically mean you are a match for the heart to? I do not know. But I still hink Storm acted somewhat *cowardly* with his suicide, just like when he shot Steph, he had his sisters *clean* it up. He announced many times, he was going to turn himself in, but never did, he had his sistes take care of it. is
  • Dr. Tim!! I miss you!! The gods know these people need a good shrink with some distance, lol. Anyway, I find it fascinating what you said about how depressed/suicidal types have the ''I always fail'' mentality. I say almost exactly those types of things... whatever I do, I know it won't be enough.... someone will have a problem with it. BUT! I have the attitude of... I'll never please anyone, so no pressure to try and please everyone! I simply do my best, decide what I think is the right way to go, & the inevitable complainers can take it or leave it. =^..^=
  • bingo, hope you come back and finish your post! It got eaten up! fee
  • fee, there was nothing missing in my post, why the word *is* shows up at the end I don't know. Looking at Storms behavior, you can see his need to help his baby sister, but also his *coward* behavior, looking for the easy way out, on top of him being a highly disturbed person.
  • Do ya'll really think that blowing your brains out is cowardly? I couldn't do it, no matter what I was facing. I think it's a highly courageous act! fee
  • fee, I think we'll have to disagree on that. Courageous to me would have been Storm facing up to his problems, but he did not. I do not know, if anybody could say, there would be nothing that could make you *blow your brains out*. He was facing life in jail, felt like he had failed his sisters. I'd still say he took the easiest way out. Do you really think he would have killed himself, if there were no legal problems waiting for him and Katie would have been in need of a heart transplant, for what ever reason? I don't think so.
  • bingo, if he hadn't shot her, then I don't know if he would have or not. I think he was making atonement. A heart for a heart, only one was gone and the other was good! fee

This was the only way I could see for this story to end. Storm didn't have much choice but to kill himself. Nothing else made sense. And I'm not saying this DOES make sense, but you know what I mean! As lame as this plot was, I still had teary eyes watching today. :(

I am just upset that BB killed off Storm. We do not have enough male characters as it is. Why turn Storm whacko and kill him off??

  • Katie could have been given another donor heart, that would have been much more believable. And if they wanted to write Storm out, he could have turned himself in for shooting Stephanie after seeing what his actions led to vis a vis Katie. That would have been a much more sympathetic ending for everyone involved. ~i&b

I also think it's a really lame plot.  Storm kills himself to give Katie his heart?  Just because they are related and have the same blood type, that does NOT mean his heart is a match for her.  Not even close.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • OK, so maybe he didn't know all that?? AND... it's not like he had time to do research or read a hospital brochure stating all the facts and requirements you need to know before shooting your brains out!! His intentions (as grossly desperate as they were) ....were to give ( a heart-felt gift ) to his 'lil sister, who was dying from his own doing and within a mere minute, her life back....even if it meant his to do so. Geez....I know he was guilt ridden, a bit looney and the Stephanie Shooter, but come on..... give the dead guy, bleeding all over the floor a little credit.
  • I have to agree with tidbit. I give the dead guy credit for trying to do a good deed. heck
  • Okay, but only because he's dead and lying in a big ole pool of blood (I think). Otherwise, no dice. ; ) ~i&b
  • LOL tidbit, heck and i&b!! Just had to say you guys cracked me up! It's good to see a little silly humor with such a seriously sad and tragic situation. I really needed that after crying real tears out of BOTH eyes and sniffling real snot from my nose these last two days! Thanks!

Personally, I think it was a stupid plot, but at least it got rid of Storm. He can't possibly come back , can he? Too bad, Dumbo is going to live now.!!

  • Oh, when Katie wakes up and is wracked with guilt over her brother's suicide to save her life, Storm's Ghost will probably appear. It seems to be the gimmick du jour on American daytime of late.
  • storm shoots himself
  • Why would you want him to blow Pam away? She is the only interesting one on the show, besides Tiny and now he is gone.
