Hoping and praying for someone to die? Hardly. She was hoping that by some miracle there was a heart out there that would match Katie. It's what the family of every heart recipient feels. That doesn't mean they're hoping for someone to die. ~i&b

Is there no end to Bridgette's doctoring? Now she works on the tranplant team? First of all transplant teams are specially trained and secondly and MOST important DRS. DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT participate in ANY surgery involving family members.
And while I'm on a rant and roll here family members DO NOT observe any surgery like the Logans and their entourage did today.

Would they truly, in real life, allow an emotional, close family member to assist in a surgery? Let alone a heart transplant? Besides, I thought her specialty was screwing up in the fertility dept.

well no in real life of course she would not be allowed anywhere near this case. and as for her specialty - all soaps have one doctor who handles whatever emergency is going on ... just like the one lawyer who sometimes is the DA and then suddenly is a defense lawyer! hee ...
No, a doctor would not perform this type of surgery on a close family member. My step-father is an orthopedic surgeon and wouldn't even perform a 'total knee' surgery on my mom's sister. This is standard, ethical practice so that, if anything goes wrong during surgery, a family member (doctor) would not have the blame/guilt on their shoulders. Bridgette assisting in performing life or death surgery on a close family member was totally stupid. The SL would have made much more sense if they'd just had her be with her family while the heart doctors worked on Katie.
