She appears to be the Logan girl, that does not look at the situation through rose colored glasses, attempting to see her brother as a Hero. I caught myself applauding her speech to Donna: "There is no Heroism in killing yourself. There is no honor, or redemption. All Storm did, was leave us, he abandoned us to live in this hell. Don't you ever call him a Hero again, not to me."
She is the one burdened the most with Storm's suicide.
Well, I feel bad for Katie and she's right about Storm not being a hero, but still....she KNEW Storm was unstable, but she tried to wrestle a loaded gun from the guy! In a way, she SHOULD blame herself. If she had minded her own business or called the police or someone to help instead of charging over to Ashley's herself and barging in like that, this could have been avoided. But, of course, soaps have people do stupid things to create a *crisis.
I really hate this story. I'm sure, however, that Katie will recover and learn nothing from this. She will be depressed, etc. but get over it and probably still be butting into everyone else's life.
I'm glad they added this aspect of the storyline. Why? Because it occurred to me later yesterday, after posting here earlier, that without showing some true survivor guilt and anger that the show was somehow very close to crossing the fine line of glamorizing suicide. Imagine some severely depressed person watching this show and, in their completely delusional mental state, suddenly have it occur to them that by killing themselves they might finally be worth something (as an organ donor.) Very dangerous ground to tiptoe onto for this show.
I think showing the REAL aftereffects of suicide on a family, and in this case the person who actually "benefited" from his death the most (Katie) is a disclaimer in a way, like: "Storm shot himself so Katie could live...do NOT try this at home!"
Wow, Katie is the lone voice of reason. I look forward to this scene. This is why she continues to be the only Logan I find remotely likeable.
