Additional Comments: I may not be very happy with sweeps so far, but I was really surprised to see B&B totally snubbed by the Daytime Emmy nominations. There are no acting nominations, none. I may hate Brooke, but KKL very much deserved a best actress nomination, I thought, for the rape storyline. There's been some really good drama and some really good performances on this show so it deserved something. Based on past nominations and winners, I know the Daytime Emmys are a joke, but it would be nice to see B&B get some recognition. Thoughts?

Message: As a survivor, I began watching this show around the time of Brooke's rape. I was really disappointed with the way the SL went. KKL could only play the scenes as they were written.
The writers could have gone really far with this SL but did not. It was not really believable as it was written...this would have been the perfect opportunity for this show to really make an impact in regards to sexual violence and how it affects the victim and the victim's family. There were so many roads this SL could have gone down but TPTB did not pick up on it.

What a joke for Heather Tom to get nominated. KKL and Hunter Tylo were my picks to get nominated for either best actress of best supporting. Exactly what scenes did Katy have that got her a nomination? Nothing seems to be popping into my head, the actress isn't anything extrodinary, her storylines were almost nonexistent, it's just seems unfair and like a joke. I guess they just wanted to have somebody from BB on the list, so they picked her. I honestly don't see the reason for it.
KKL may have killed her nomination with the egg swap storyline, but I believed that the scene where she read Steph's letter and just starting yelling for her would get her a nomination, and Hunter Tylo's scenes have also been great. What's with the emmys??? Even YR got two nobody actresses nominated, one plays Heather and the other Colleen, with the latter having almost no screen time.

Message: Basically if you were not on ATWT, YR, and GL, you were ignored. ABC was almost completely shutout, except a few noms. As usual the Emmy's are way unbalanced. I will not even watch this year.

I don't think KKL deserved an Emmy, because as a poster stated below, her acting was passable during the rape storyline, but that was about it. It was nothing spectacular. I don't even consider KKL to be a particularly good actress, and I never have. She's okay. She's a beautiful woman, and she's perfectly cast as the childish, selfish and whorish Brooke Logan, but she's not a great talent.
The Emmy's are very often unfair, though. I'm a big Melody Thomas Scott fan, and I don't think she's ever won an Emmy, either. I can only remember her being nominated once. And she is an extremely talented actress, so go figure!

Yes, the Daytime Emmys are pretty much a joke. They really shouldn't be taken too seriously.
Instead of wasting time getting all dressed-up, the B&B folks should just go bowling for charity that night.

Message: KKL (Brooke) deserved that best actress nod. Can't explain how that didn't happen.

Message: I just hope that this means TIIC get the hint that the constant emmy push is not working and stop shoving Brooke down our throats every day. No offense to KKL but b&b has been way oversaturated with Brooke.

Message: I didn't feel KKL's performance was emmyworthy in the least. It was fine, there was nothing wrong with it. But just somebody gets on there and can scream and cry is no reason they should get an emmy. Of course, CASSIE also should not be in the emmy category, I have no idea how she made it. But comparing the two of them, her acting is as good as KKLs. They both have horrible characters! Cassie stole her dying sister's husband; Brooke stole her daughter's husband and threw him away! Cassie has done a really great job several times, but I still wouldn't give her an emmy nod! Or Crystal Chappell either! Gina Tognoni, without a doubt! Fantastic!
The thing about KKL and the rape storyline is that, and hopefully I don't offend anyone by saying this, sometimes viewers will look at the STORY and feel that the good performances automatically go along with it. Rape is intense. But IMO, KKL's performance, while not at all bad, wasn't award worthy. It's not that difficult to act shaken and upset and to yell and throw things, it's just not. You'd have to see her carry depths and layers long-term, somehow weaving the effects of her rape into her character (DESPITE the script taking her away from the rape story), to see it as a fabulous performance. But I think people are afraid to criticize an actress who portrays a rape victim. I really don't think she took it deep enough, though.
Plus, I think despite viewing specifically submitted acting reels, the governing body of the Daytime Emmys can't help but look at full bodies of work and long-time reputations. KKL delivers one-note performances for two decades; she yells and cries for a few episodes and suddently deserves an Emmy?
