Topic: The whole rich LA vs. Valley feud is dumber than I thought!

Additional Comments: Okay, the Logans family has been put down by other characters for being "from the Valley" the whole time this show has been going on. Not being from California, I imagined the "valley" as being some awful ghetto with run down apartments or maybe a more rural place filled with cheap trailer parks.

Lo-and-behold Katy shows Bill (and the audience) the valley and they are standing in front of nice suburban homes that probably have 2 or 3 garages! Boy am I confused! So I talk to my husband who IS from California originally and he says "the valley" refers to San Fernando Valley, which is mostly nice suburban homes worth 3/4 of a million dollars each!

For crying out loud, I thought the class-based feuding between the Forresters and the Logans was about rich vs. poor - and now I find out that all along it's about superrich vs. upper middle class! Good grief - how stupid!

First, let me say that I don't mind Brooke now.  Stephanie's rejection of Brooke was because of the sneaky way Brooke got into their lives.  Brooke rejected her nice cop boyfriend when she got an eyeful of the Forrester lifestyle while catering a party for them.  Then she befriendled Caroline in her hospital room just to get a chance to be close to Ridge.  Brooke conspired with Thorne to keep Ridge's letter from Caroline so that the misunderstanding would lead to Caroline marrying Thorne before she was over Ridge and the trauma of her rape.  Brooke wasn't the innocent victim that mean old Steph picked on for no reason.  When Steph doesn't like someone, she zeros in on that person's insecurities to hurt them.  Brooke herself wasn't satisfied with her beginnings and was determined to get and stay in the Forrester family and for many years seemed to forget her own.

  • In the early years, Big Mama saw Crooke as a social climber and golddigger who was attracted to the Forrester lifestyle as much as she was to Ridge. ~i&b
  • Nope, Stephanie's problem with Brooke was due to her own insecurities and jealousy! First of all, because Stephanie was jealous of Brooke's Mom and then jealous of Brooke because of Ridge's (Steph's true love) attraction to Brooke. Stephanie never really cared about the money mongrels...she actually endured to most of them. We know Stephanie befriended the likes of Amber (a TRUE gold-digger) and/or everyone and anyone else that she could use against Brooke. Stephanie was never a snob whereas her money was concerned, she was just jealous and obsessed with the Logan family, which was due to her own insecurities she had with the love of her husband and Ridge. ~tbit

I always thought that of all the objections that Big Steph had to Brooke, "the valley girl" was one of the dumbest. It's not like the Forresters were blue bloods or WASPS with bloodlines going back to the Mayflower. Eric was a middle class dressmaker who got lucky enough to snag a rich girl. Any 'old money' in California comes from San Francisco, not LA, so the Forresters are nouveau riche at best

When I saw the house they grew up in I was kinda of throwed off too, since it is a lot nicer than the house I grew up in myself, and we were a step above poor.  I can't wait to see how this wedding pans out..

Hey Vanilla, I was surprised also and I am from Calif. (Northern bay area) but still !! LOL

Yes, the writers could of at least shown and one story track home, in the burbs! Really changes things, doesn't it?

I wonder where they filmed that, kind of looked like the Universal lot.

LOL!  I was thinking the same thing throughout today's show!  As a fan who's watched for 18 years, I was led to believe that the Logans came from a low-class neighbourhood.  The homes where Katie took Bill today were lovely middle-class!

There are several daytime stars that live in "The Valley".Just because you can't afford BH,doesn't mean you're slumming if you live in the valley.Stephanie is proof positive that money doesn't buy you class. She is  the most foul mouth woman on daytime tv.

LOL!! Most Brooke fans have tried to explain that through out the years, but anti-Brookers insisted she was just trailer trash looking for a rich man! Brooke did not come from some poor family searching for a rich man! Her Mom actually owned the catering service that Brooke worked for and Brooke wasn't some poor girl on the wrong side of the tracks just looking for a man with money...she was just fascinated with Ridge Forrester when she saw him in the fashion news. What girl her age wouldn't be infatuated with a handsome fashion designer like Ridge?

  • wrong side of the tracks
  • ICAM jo!
  • Oh, please, Jo! Crooke proposed to Nick the moment she heard that Budge might have aborted her & Nick's child (and before Budge handed over Nick to her mom). What kind of mother does that, or even thinks of getting together with her own daughter's husband (especially after screwing -- yes, that's the correct term under the circumstances -- the daughter's first husband, not just once but over and over again)? It just doesn't get any trashier than that. ~i&b
  • wrong side of the tracks
  • Of course that wasn't right either, I never said it was. But considering what Crooke had already done to her, I wouldn't exactly put Budge in the same league. And, yes, in case you missed it Crooke DID screw Deacon over and over again -- while giving her daughter marital advice, no less! ~i&b
