Topic: Why can't underwear have class and elegance?

Additional Comments: Seriously. We all wear it! How classy and elegant would those gowns be if their models wore them without panties and bras? If class and elegance is a problem, why not come up with a way to advertise the line in a classy and elegant way? Maybe emphasize that the right undergarments create a panty-line free, waist-defining, more flattering (and yes, sexy!) silhouette even when you're wearing clothes.

Stephanie and Taylor not only lack business sense (since the bedroom line is the company's main money maker) but they are lacking in any common sense or imagination. They are letting their own discomfort with the human body and animosity toward Brooke to get in the way of what's best for the company. Company's are in business to make money. You don't get rid of the main money making line and expect to stay in business for long.

It's a case of Brad Bell taking a storyline that used to make sense and running with it waaaay too long. The original rationale for the Brooke's Bedroom arguments were that it was profitable, but needed to be scaled back because too much focus on it would cheapen the brand. In short, the only reason they could get away with charging $25 for $0.05 of cotton was because it had the Forrester name - a couture label - attached to it, and if the Forrester name lost its market value, that was it for the underwear as well. Which makes a certain amount of sense. Chanel charges $$$$ for perfume that the drugstore sells for $10 and gets away with it because they're Chanel. Now they're making it like the issue is that Stephanie has some sort of bizarre grudge against underwear.

Excellent post, Villian-Fan.  I can't see taking the main money-maker in a business and killing it simply bc two uptight, bitter women don't like it or the person who created it.  I'd love to see what they would come up with instead.  Oh wait, they tried their hand at it once and it was a flop.  They don't create, they just criticize.

I keep wanting someone to say "just about all major fashion houses have lingerie lines!" I have seen Calvin Klein underwear (remember Mark Wahlberg in those ads? yummy!), worn a Gucci bra underneath a designer bridesmaids dress, and the list goes on. Stupid.

Totally DISAGREE with your first part. If Brooke's Bedroom is successful and making money they cannot - CANNOT - kill that line. Period. They can create another line where they get back to basics WHILE keeping the Brooke's Bedroom line out there as well. If anything, this young lady line that Hope and Steffy are arguing over is an offshoot line that should be killed altogether. You use the Brooke's Bedroom line to keep the company afloat UNTIL they build a line that gets them back to the basics.

  • Wow. How did this get here? This was meant for Linny's post below. lol.
  • I can't disagree with that logic. However, I guess my point was that the BETTER rationale to cut the line is the rationale that I cited rather than the usual ''BB is tacky''. If they didn't want to sound like harpies, arguing that they want to return to the basics and only have money to develop one line would be logical. FC gowns have been around far longer than Brooke's lingerie line. It's not like they would have to start from scratch, just concentrate more on the FC line. But if Brooke's Bedroom could run independently and not suck up money in development, I agree, they'd be fools to cut the line. However, they'd be fools to allow Brooke's Bedroom to dominate the FC business too. FC is supposed to be known for over-priced gowns that rich people buy and wear once on the red carpet, not lingerie. If that's their brand and it WAS successful, then they need to rebuild that and not let Brooke's Bedroom muddy that brand. On the other hand, I firmly believe Brooke should take Brooke's Bedroom and run it herself separate from FC. If they don't appreciate what the line brings in, screw 'em. Let them struggle with the over-priced gowns and no other diversified income stream. eom Linny

I am so sick to death of hearing the words "class", "elegance", "dignity", etc., etc.  I could  just hurl!!  Yes, I get that Taylor/Stephanie want to "return to their roots", blah, blah, BUT if the bedroom line is truly the only revenue-producing product that FC has, then they need to let that keep on making money while they are having Ridge/Eric create the "classy, elegant" designs that they are so wishing for.  (And hopefully those designs will make money).

I haven't watched but Stephaine and Taylor are a couple of haters.  There is a legitimate reason to NOT want to continue the bedroom line.  Quite simply, FC needs to go back to basics for a while and concentrate on the one line that made them a success rather than divide their attention to an off-shoot that, although successful, does not necessarily symbolize what FC is about.  They can return to the line later when they have enough financial resources to do this, but right now they need to get their brandname back on the racks with those over-priced gowns they keep shoving down everyone's throats.

If I were Brooke, I'd tak the money I was going to spend on buying those shares from Taylor and create an off-shoot line of underwear like Victoria Secrets.  Once the line becomes a success, she can always sell her company to FC in return for share in FC stock and some say in the management of FC and Brooke's Bedroom.

Making BB a success in the faces of Taylor and Stephanie would serve two purposes: (1) shove it in their faces; and (2) give Brooke some leverage.
