Additional Comments: Barry Bonds took steroids. What an outrage, huh? Bullspit. I've got news for ya...the goofballs in the local gym take them; i know, i was one of them back in the 80's. No, I havent stopped bodybuilding but the fact is, men and women get bigger, stronger and are able to utilize their athletic talent better when taking whatever combination of steroids (and there are many), GH, etc (and there are lots of etceteras). Also, local goofballs don't have the opportunity to become decadal or centennial millionaires by elevating their athletic performances to secure large contracts. Therefore, given the monetary rewards of being a 'taker' and becoming wealthy for generations, it is clearly the right decision, at least for the marginal athlete, to take performance enhancing drugs. The hysteria about their danger is similar to the hysteria about 'global warming', that is, mostly a fantasy propagated by the controlled media. Indeed, those individuals who have dropped dead in professional wrestling and those NFL players who have died relatively young have taken many far more dangerous drugs than whatever anabolics they could swallow or inject. For example, wrestlers tend to die in their sleep from heart problems...when they are around 40. This has more to do with the 'cocktail' of prescribed drugs and alchol than it does with steroids. For example, pro wrestlers take steroids, GHm (anyone who takes this also takes insulin injections), soma, PAXIL, Thyroid are drunks and abuse their bodies by being on the road for 300 days per years getting beaten up. This is true for NFL players as every down from scrimmage is like being in a car accident. They end up crippled with arthritis and inflammation of joints and the arteries. No wonder they drop in their mid 50's.
Bottom line is that if the athlete has an opportunity to make that kind of money playing sports, whether he is a marginal player or not, has a decision to make. I know I would have done it...HELL, I TOOK THEM ANYWAY FOR NOTHING just to look good naked. Indeed, steroids are sold over the counter in hispanic American countries and with the huge influx of Latin players since 1991, is it any wonder that steroid use increased? As for when steroid use 'took off' in MLB, in retrospect, I believe it was the Oakland A's of the late 80's. Back then, when you got traded to the A's, you suddenly got bigger when you were a teammate of Canseco and McGuire. They were very arrogant back then (which is ok) and were the best team in baseball; they had to be, they were juiced. You will find that those players who had injuries probably were takers to be rehabed more quickly and not to be bigger like Canseco and Mcguire. In my former steroid user opinion and having watching baseball for 47 years, Barry Bonds decided to be a taker when he was left off the all century team in 1999 (McGuire made it). He started taking under professional supervision and became went from being a great player (OPS of high 900's, that is BA + on base percentage + slugging %) to the rarified air of 1300-1400 OPS's of Babe Ruth and Ted Williams. I saw them all since 1961: Mickey Mantle, Mays, Aaron, F. Robinson, Harmon Killebrew etc.....NO ONE was the threat at the plate like Barry Bonds on his stew of drugs. Regardless, no jury in the world will convict him of anything. 12 years ago, I stood alone in predicting from day one that OJ would be found innocent. Why? Well, I predicted that there would be about 9 African Americans on the jury and they wouldn't convict him. this is normal. I gave a metaphor that if Geronimo was on trial by the white justice system and you had 9 Ntive americans on the jury, he wouldn't be convicted either. Besides, after hearing the DReam team devastate the sloppy prosection, i would have had to vote not guilty myself.
Barry Bonds should not be convicted of anything in this case. Got his bloodtest, you say? Who did the tests....the fbi labs? Well, they were caught fixing evidence in the 90's so they are not credible. He's not a mass murderer.....he took some steroids etc. SO WHAT. His income tax problem is much more serious. He should just pay it because he can't win here. When the gestapo comes after you in this case, regardless of the true fact that there is no law stating that we have to pay income tax (16th amendment was not ratified), you can't win. And, even if you beat it, they would sick another federal agency on you until they 'got' you. Then, they would Abu Graib you. Not kidding here..they did it to Ed and Elaine brown, 60 somethings in New Hampshire. He disappeared for 4 days and was tortured (dieseled and waterboarded). He said so afterwards.
We have far more serious problems with fake terrorist, wars, oil price fixing etc than Barry Bonds. The court of public opinion will hurt him far more than any court trial.
There are many areas covered here and I could write a book on any one of them; so, try to get what you can from this piece.

Message: If I heard the news correctly, Bonds is being prosecuted for his dishonesty under oath. Did I hear that wrong? You or I would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for lying under oath. Why shouldn't Bonds be held accountable?
