... and i don't even want any props for being the veeery first here to be the lone voice in the very beginning to stand against the massive onslaught of Molly/Mel hate and point out that her awesome acting talent would shine thru eventually and that the character would become great...- Chris

In fact...and all here know my DH/Mar lovefest, but...Mel may be the next Deidre Hall!

She is a great little actress! Do I like Mel? Not really. If she left the show, I wouldn't miss her one bit. I do NOT hate Mel. But she is just an immature spoiled self centered brat. And, I'm not so sure that her daddy did all that much to her. I bet she went along for the $$$$$$$$$$$$!!!

I thought Nick's acting was terrific.  He finally got to show viewers some of his talent.  He held my attention, not Melanie.

  • Is it a crime to give *both* of these talented young actors credit for the job they *both* did recently? -PT/Chris

Like your interest and passion, Chris, BUT, all her crying and never a tear. Nick was the real actor and shed the tears for both of them. On the flip side, Marlena has always been good for tears., real tears and she was introduced once on a talk show as having the ability to cry from her left eye or the right or both.! lol Guess when Melanie started doing that crazy dog stuff with her head, it got to be beyond annoying. sorry.

Yes!  I like Molly, and did from the start.

I think a few things are going on here:  People don't like Molly b/c they don't like Mel.  People are tired of the young actresses and just assume Molly will be like the others.  We are mad over the recent vet cuts, but it has nothing to do with this actress...she survived, good for her.  Actually, none of this is her fault...she is good at what she does and worthy of some praise, imho.

Chris, have you been drinking?? :-)  Molly will never, EVER be another Deidre Hall.  She just doesn't have it in her.  Thanks for your posts as well because without them this board would be completely dead.

  • RealMike...No, I haven't been drinking...unfortunately...yeah, Maybe calling Melanie 'The Next Deidre Hall' WAS a bit of a stretch...and...I probably should have expounded...in terms of that regal, queenly bearing that DH exudes and the fan following and several other traits, no, of course not...no other actress ever will be...BUT...i see a few striking similarities: originating a frontburner character at a very young age (Dee started Marlena in 1976)...it taking a while for the fans to warm up to her (this was true of Dee/Mar untill about 1979-really it was the Salem Strangler SL that MADE Dee/Mar in the eyes of the fans) and setting herself up on the show as a very long-term mainstay on the show as a frontburner character...those are the similarities i was speaking of and thats where i was coming from - or trying to lol - PT/Chris
  • DH was 29 when Marlena came to Salem, not what I would consider 'a very young age'...I'm not saying it isn't young, just not 'very young'. Hope, Sami and Jennifer (to name a few) created their frontburner characters while in their teens.
  • Exactl...lol...thanx for using sami, jen and hope to prove my point ;) ... all teen or twentysomething actresses who became DAYS ALLTIMERS...I see no reason why Molly/Mel (Who is almost 21, not 17 as some have said) is not in the same exact same position .... - PT/Chris
  • Oh, Btw RealMike-Thanx For The Compliment - PT/Chris

Alright no one wants to admit to anything yet do they?

I like Melanie! This poor girl the life she has endured due to her sicko father. He use to make her sit on mens lap as a child, who knows what he told her about her mother, and what else she had to do for her father. The only way to act out was take his money and become a "party girl"(whatelse is she to do she has no guidiance) She doesn't really trust anyone. She finds a brother she never knew, finds out what a real bastard her father is, framed for killing him by someone she trusted. She is still a child!

Wither you like Mel or not you have to admit Molly has done a great job with the writing they have gave her. Finally something different for her. Blake/Molly have done a wonderful job this week. Hopefully they will continue to give her good written scripts so we can see her depth.

  • Liza, I have to give it up to Mel. She did a good job this week. I wish I could like her. Her hand actions, her hair pushing, her teeth nashing, I just can't get past that. eom Ald
  • Aldornia just doesn't like her because she's 'young and very pretty'... ( inside joke ;) ) - PT/Chris

Nope sorry, I gotta disagree.  While I agree her scenes yesterday very good I will never warm up to this actress or character.  I find her annoying, the way she talks, the way she whines everything.  I just can't get past the fact that she is staying while others that are well loved are being fired.  Just my opinion.

I agree Chris. I've never liked the character of Melanie and as for the actress Molly, well I just didn't enjoy her. That is until all of this crazy Nick stuff. She has done an amazing job! In the past, I kind of suffered though her scenes with disinterest and eyes rolling. Now, I'm on the edge of my seat with my heart beat accelerated. I feel for Melanie. I hurt for her. This is a true testiment to Molly's talent.

I usually agree with most of your post, BUT NOT THIS ONE! I can not stand this person, she is so annoying in so many ways, too many to name except one, her hand CONSTANTLY touching her temple! I know that is small, but like I said, too many annoying habits to name. Keeping her and outing John and Marlena........an absolute sham!!!

  • Skuzi...im a big fan of your posts too...and disagreeing is what its all about, or this would be a mighty boring board ;)...and, we all like different flavors of ice cream right lol?...BUT, i will admit that im a bit surprised that her performance this past week didn't impress you just a teeny, weeny bit - PT/Chris
  • Actually, if truth be said, I have not watched this week at all. In fact I am really behind from last week as well. I tape all week and watch on the weekend, but last weekend was really a busy one, so I catch a show as I can. I should get caught up this weekend though, and I will let you know if I change my mind about Melonie.
  • i predict you will!!! ...but who knows, it can be fun to be wrong ;) -PT/Chris
