Additional Comments: I am loving this new move to shake up the couples on DOOL THe show was starting to get stale with the same ol couples, but it is refreshing to see these new couples. Chloe/Lucas was totally unexpected, but it could work. Phillip and Morgan are interesting together as well. It is really hard to figure out which woman (Chloe or Morgan) is best for Phillip. EJ/Nicole are GREAT! I love this couple. They could scheme together and still be interesting. I really hope they do not turn Nicole into a nice girl because she is more fun when she is scheming. Other soaps do this all the time with couples, but I have noticed that some viewers get upset when the main couples break up for an extended amount of time. John/Marlena viewers are in uproar because they are separated, but it has been refreshing to see John and Ava together. It is a new type of storyline for Drake H. and he is doing an excellent job. It is also giving Deidre Hall something good to play other than kissing in the pub for the entire scene. I have not had a lot of positve things to say about Dina Higley in the past as HW, but this reign is so much better (Not the best, but it's better). I like how Victor and Nikki (Y&R) have been married and divorced numerous times but they are still the rooting couple. They have each had separate relationships that have been successful, but they always find their way to each other again. Same with Josh and Reva on GL. They have been married 3 or 4 times, but they have also had successful relationships with other people. Let's see that with Steve and Kayla. Let them break up for a while. Pair them with other people for a while and have them come together in a few years. It beats having them in the pub counseling Stephanie in every episode. Mary Beth Evans and Stephen Nichols are too talented for the writers not to know what to do with them. But, if they are broken up for any length of time, some viewers would stop watching or protest because they are not together. It is ridiculous and it is causing some of our popular couples to remain on the backburner. Again, this is just my opinion.
I don't mind making new couples either, but let's do it GRADUALLY, not have them ripping each other's pants off in an elevator five minutes after the power goes off! A sweet new love story is always nice, but to do it like they did with Nicole and Chloe, makes it just nasty.

Message: So far, Dena has been getting thumbs up from me. Overall I have been enjoying the program. Huge positive difference in my viewer satisfaction now than in the last couple of years. No doubt. The show is much more balanced again.

Message: Breaking couples up isn't the answer to the problem. TPTB knowing & caring about the characters IS a big part of the answer & that isn't going to happen anytime soon. KC & Co. have been around for MANY yrs & still don't 'get it' about knowing & appreciating their audience. Instead they continue to marginalize us & buy into the commonly held misconception that the fans have the collective brain of a gnat, to go along w/the same creature's attention span.
Soaps have, historically, had some couples that always stayed together, no matter what. Today it is all about musical beds. I really don't think that approach has done anything to strengthen soaps' position in the marketplace!
KC & Co. need to get back to basics when it comes to storytelling, character & storyline development, as well as appreciating the fans & the genre of soap opera.
