Topic: I saw Elton John on Saturday!

Additional Comments: OMFG!  Absolutely amazing!  The concert tickets were pretty expensive....$163 Cdn, but it was well worth it!  (The only part that p!ssed me off was, we were almost at the top of the upper bowl, and the prices were the same as people in the front row...)  He played for three hours...just him and his piano.  No opening act, no band....amazing.  I'm still in awe!  If you get the opportunity to see him, GO!  He sounded better than he does recorded!  :o)

Hubby and I and another couple saw him a few yrs ago. The men waited in line for tickets 24 hrs before they went on sale and traded off every several hours. We got front row seats!! I shook hands with him and got his autograph on my program booklet 3 times. Ive always just liked Elton, but wasnt a super duper fan. Wow, he changed my mind. Like you said, he played non-stop 3 hrs, very very cordial and friendly to the audience. A true perfomer, I think we paid 150 bucks for tickets and we certainly didnt feel gyped at all. It was worth every penny.

  • I wish I had have waited in line too! It would have been so great to be closer...but alas, I'll take what I had lol. Better than not seeing him! :o) eom Tukey

too bad tickets are such outrageous prices these days for most concerts.

I saw him here at our arena which is also home to the SJ sharks, so my complaint is the arena sometimes depending if you are sitting higher the sound bounces off.

I think those arenas are way to big for EJ. I would of liked if I could to see him at a smaller place. I got his tee shirt, bought the new CD when I saw him. Loved it! Love the songs and stories!

I saw  him years ago also outside at Berkly. It was early 80's he was in all his *Loud and big Elton John clothes and act* That was fun. The concert I saw him recently, was more mellow and he wore a tux! But still good!

  • Haha yeah, I was expecting a more flamboyant outfit....he wore his classic long jacket, all in black with a sparkly design on the back. He looked great though! ;o) eom Tukey

I absolutely love love LOVE EJ.  Have seen him in concert a couple times and he's awesome!  Just like you said...him and the piano for hours, no special effect/props/etc.  His voice always sounds great and his playing is fantastic...I don't know how his fingers can take it!  Glad you had a good time!

  • His voice is getting a little raspy (perhaps with age?) and I love it. I think he sounds better now than he did twenty years ago! :o) eom Tukey

Whoa...that is pretty expensive! But I'm glad you enjoyed it Tukey. And a true artist is one who can sound just as good (if not better) live as they do recorded. So many of them suck when they try to 'sing' live (try being the operative word).

  • You are very right! Luckily everyone I've saw in concert has been fantastic! :o) eom Tukey P.S. I'm going to reply to your email soon...just had a really busy week with Ottawa and the boy's bday and the concert! xoxo
  • No worries Tukey...I figured you were busy :o) I'd be busy too if I had hunk-a-licious moving in with me :P LOL! I will talk to you soon xoxo Sephora
  • Haha Thanks for understanding! :o) eom Tukey xoxo

He is playing in St. John's this weekend.  I wish I could have gotten tickets to see him but I was travelling the morning they went on sale .  I looked on ebay for tickets but the prices were outrageous!

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Oh definitely....there was a big hooplah around here because of the scalpers buying the tickets and then selling them for outrageous prices....two tickets near the front row went for $2000. INSANE! I happily took my upper bowl seats for the cost price lol. :o) eom Tukey
