Additional Comments: That's what Nicole Kidman named her daughter.....what do you think? I don't like it. But she didn't ask me - and I would NEVER tell her that. :)

It wouldn't matter what she (or anyone else) named their child, someone somewhere will find a way to make a joke or silly rhyme out of it. Especially kids, they can be cruel.

Anyway, I like it. At least it is spelled traditionall, not "Sundae" or "Sonday" or "SuNDay" (TM Sarah Jessica Parker, "LA Story").

I had a cousin whose name was Wednesday Rue, we called her Wendy. She actually got one of the better names in her family. She had a younger sister named Angherid (not sure of spelling) Truely. We called her Truely or just T. I think there was a character in "How Green Was My Valley" who had the name Angherid and I guess that is where her Mom got the name, altho she never seemed the type to have read the book, or even seen the movie.

OK, here's an interesting theory....Nicole Kidman named her child Sunday as a subtle dig at Tom Cruise and Scientology, since Sunday is the traditional day of worship in Catholicism and an ordinary day to Scientologists.

I'm not sure I'm buying that theory. She comes across as a very private person and doesn't seem to dwell over TomCrusie.  Besides, if she wanted to give her child a Catholic name as a dig to Scientology, she could have named her Honor Mary, Christina, Faith, Hope, Charity, Mercedes, or Angela.

Maybe she chose Sunday, because she wants her to be "bonny, blithe, good and gay?"

Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

wait, wait, wait. Nicole had her baby?? she hardly looked pregnant! Was it early? and no word from Angeline Jolie yet?

When did Nicole have baby. I am so happy for her. I know she loves and has the 2 children with Tom, but this little one is special for her.

Well Wasn't the little girl in Adams Family, Wednesday? and I have heard someone called Saturday, so guess Sunday is fine. But you know it will get mixed up and she will be called Sandy or something like that!

  • Wasn't the Addams Family daughter named Wednesday? and then there was Tuesday Weld, the actress. Can't think of anyone named Monday, Thursday or Saturday, but there was an assistant Friday, who was that??
  • Sorry, sandy, that's Catrin replying. I keep forgetting to add my name./Catrin
  • Wasn't Robinson Crusoe's buddy named Friday? ~~sandy

I just heard about it on the radio a few minutes ago!  I do NOT like it!  I mean, it IS better than Apple or Pilot Inspector or whatever, but still..Sunday???  The nickname, Sunny is cute, but SUNDAY??  Not my cup of tea, that's for sure!

I hope they don't call her Sunday..just let it be an official thing and she can just be 'Sunny' to everyone!  Then again, it's not my kid, so what say do I have?  :)

Can't wait to see some pictures :)

I was just listening to the radio and her full title is "Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban"  The radio announcers were having more of a dig about the Sunday Rose bit - it sounds too much like 'Sunday Roast'  I'm a bit confused with my time zones (it's Tuesday morning as I type right now) but was she born on Sunday?

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • The news says she was born on Monday. eom fuzzwuzz
  • Well there goes THAT theory!! Thanks - Aussie B
  • It does sounds similar to Sunday Roast!! ; ) TDQ
  • Yeah, they're doing all cutesy wording like ''Kidman Gives Birth To Sunday On Monday''!!! That's just one of many headlines like that! eom fuzzwuzz
  • That was my first thought too; that the baby was born on Sunday and thus her name. But, no. At any rate, this option of naming offspring based upon their birthdate is generally reserved for those who have had multiple children and have thus 'run out' of names. For instance; my mother was born in the month of May, thus her middle name is 'May
  • which she despises. But, she was girl #7 for my grandma, who went on to deliver two more girls, then one boy (#10), then yet another girl. I mean, one does run short of ideas after a bit...~Carissa

I think "Sunday" is kinda cute.  Not terrible.  But "Urban" has always bugged me.  I know you can't help your last name, but it sounds made-up.  Like, "Look at me, I'm so metropolitan cool! I'm URBAN!".   And it's really silly considering he's a country star. But whatever.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Haa, emmy, sorta like Brad Pitt. No, you can't help your last name and I hope I'm not offending anyone with that name, but I always thought Jolie-Pitt just didn't go together as names. (off-topic I guess)/Catrin
