As I have recounted, my FIL has been living with his GF for, oh, 3 years or so. Aside from her being incredibly racist and never shutting up, she's fine. She has a good heart...and, obviously, good lungs. She has a very raucous sense of humor. For my FIL's birthday, she bought a pretty raunchy card...which she felt necessary to show Mr. ML, The Daughter, Sonny, and me. I mean, there are no words...
Anyways, the Mothers' Day thing is a little weird. She has kids pretty much the same age as Mr. ML and his siblings. I send her flowers for her birthday and Christmas...she sends us a Christmas gift. All well and good.
Well, Mr. ML does like her...as do I, in very small doses. He decided to send her a Mothers' Day card...If he had asked, I would have gotten a nice generic one.
The one he bought has a picture of a stereotypical biker on the front. The writing on the front is, ''This is Sid. What is the difference between you and Sid?'' The answer, on the inside, is ''Sid is one bad mother.''
Is this, in fact, appropriate in your opinion? I'm kind of getting a chuckle out of this one...just looking for other impressions...

Sounds like someone with her personality would like it.
To be honest, I don't think a Mother's Day card is at all necessary in a situation like this. I mean, we're talking about a girlfriend, not a wife, and your husband was an adult when she got involved with him ... I don't think I'd do anything myself, unless it was expected, perhaps.

Message: Oh goodness. I'm not quite sure. I think that with the way you described her sense of humor-she'll take it o.k., probably even love it and show it around.

Message: I think it's a blast. From your description of her, it sounds right on target. Let's put it this way: ain't NO way she'll think YOU picked out that card. Knowing that, she should accept it in the spirit in which it was intended. Let us know what happens!
