Well, for those of you who don’t remember me, my name is Candy Girl. I am retired from a chocolate company (which closed our plant and several others and moved that production to Mexico; boycott “The Great American Chocolate Bar“). I am married and have a (step)son, DIL and a 10 yo granddaughter. I live in Northern CA.
Now that that is out of the way, I have missed you guys! Oh, I pop in now and then and check up on what is going on, but it seems I never have time to start posting again. I always say I am gonna, but then I don’t.
I cannot even remember how long it has been since I posted, maybe a couple years…
Hubby and I have been busy since I retired. I visited my Sister in NC 3 times that first year! Then we bought a used 1992 5th wheel and started “camping” and traveling in it. Then last year on our way home from OK, a guy hit the back of it (while we were parked), so we ended up buying a newer, better one. This one is a 29E34 2004 Titanium and we love it! We have been enjoying traveling in it when we can.
We have not been able to go very far for a while because in March of this year I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I had successful surgery (lumpectomy) in April. I started chemo in June and have only 2 more treatments left to go. Then I will start radiation for 40 treatments. So that is one reason I have put off starting posting again. I get so tired after just a few minutes of doing things. And the second chemo medicine has made my fingers numb and tingly, so typing is harder. Not to mention the glove on my left hand for the lymph edema…. I have treatments every 2 weeks, and I have felt pretty good the whole time. I go on Wednesdays, and then on Thursday I get a shot for my immune system. Friday is my worst day; I feel like I have been beat all over. Then each day after that, I feel a little better. Hubby has been great through this. He takes me to my appointments, waits on me at home and helps with the cooking, shopping and housework. Although he was in hospital last week for a few days. His heart rate and BP were way down. They are not sure what happened, but they have his meds straightened out now and he feels better. I took him to ER around 1:30am, they put him in a room around 7:30, I got home at 9:30, my SIL picked me up at 10, and took me to my chemo appointment! I got through there at 5:00. That was a long day! I was able to sleep during most of my treatment, so that helped. He got out on Friday, and thank goodness for his niece. She drove me over to the hospital to pick him up that evening. When we got to his room, he was sitting in a chair watching TV. I asked him if they were getting a wheelchair to take him out. He said he told them he would rather walk, and they said OK, but someone will have to walk with you. Meanwhile they had already called for a wheelchair. I told him, “if you don’t want to ride in the chair, I will!” So when the volunteers got there with the chair, Hubby told them “I am the patient, but she is riding down in the chair!” So I got in and they took me to the front door! That was nice, because I was exhausted.
Anyway, that is what is going on with me. I will try to post more regularly, and I will try to reply to any replies to this post. But I cannot guarantee anything…it depends on the day and time. Seems like mornings are better for me. By afternoon it is all I can do to pick up the remote and turn on the TV….
I am typing this on Word and copying it over to the Board, so now I have to go look up my password!

Hi, Candy Girl! Of course I remember you; your posting name and your candy factory job always stick in my mind.
So sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but it sounds as though you are beating this disease! Thankfully, breast cancer survivors are everywhere now. My boss is one, for instance (20+ years). I know that your treatments will be a success.
Please do visit us when you can. I realize typing would be difficult with neuropathy, and sometimes all of us just don't feel like typing (seems like too much work) even though we are healthy, so I understand. ((hugs))
Hey there Candy girl! I had wondered what happened to you.
When it rains it pours at your house. I am so glad that medically things are coming along for you. and hubby. I will say a prayer for you both. Hope you have enough energy to hang out her at least occassionally. God bless and take care.
