A while ago I posted something in a topic about being in feast mode -- as in Feast or Famine ...

Can't remember when I started using that phrase but it's been a while -- and I tend to use it more when in feast mode --when way too much to do.  Seems like I swing from one extreme to the other with very little in the middle for much of the time.  The past few weeks and especially last week/this week -- it's all feast!

Finished my 8 week History program and was at the Adult Day Center 4 days to finalize/get ready/dress rehearse the Golden Idol (think American Idol, 50 years older).  There were some hiccups -- especially the Piano player (whom I didn't get to talk to until last Monday because the Asst Director in charge of lining up him and the Judges waited till the last minute.  I just wish if I am charged with something that I have full control in the future.  The piano player was a class A jerk and reamed me out over lunch -- he said some despicable things and so I walked out to collect myself.  Apparently he's some hot shot Broadway guy who does volunteer stuff but he wasn't really into this gig and complained the whole time.  This was not supposed to be intense -- just fun for the participants.  Anyway -- went from there to church to work on the bulletin and start the Nov. newsletter and stay for the Midnight Run.  I didn't get home till 3 AM Saturday morning.  Last week was also our Annual Meeting at Church and Nursery School monthly meeting.  For Halloween yesterday I didn't have to dress up at all since I looked and felt like a Zombie!

I'm working Election Day Tuesday and am flying out early Wed AM to Florida for 1) see my mom and 2) speak at my niece/nephew's school -- K through 6th Grade.  Have to be at school by 8 AM on Thursday -- I don't think I've been up for school that early since college!  I'm a bit worried about this school talk in particular since I have only 40 minutes for each combined classes/grade and usually I have 1 hour for the older kids.  And my mom is going to be there for all of it...I've done this in front of friends obviously but none of my family and somehow I always feel inadequate around them.  My mom also isn't all that well and I'm worried something will happen to her while I'm cooped up rehabbing from surgery come January...I'll be unable to travel probably for about 4 months +/- .  So I'm glad I'm going just wish the schedule had spread out more but the school's Disability Awareness week is this week!

I'm sorry if I've missed some posts -- High Five to GailJ for moving forward...Hugs to all those not feeling well and/or with sick kids...Hope all had some fun on Halloween and yummy left-over candy that you like ...more Hugs to anyone who needs one for any reason...and Happy Birthday to any one I may have missed or will miss this week when out of the loop.  If I survive this next week I'll be back next Monday, the 9th.  Of course in a few weeks it'll be famine mode again and I'll be unhappy then, too!  Lastly -- a bit of good news -- I got approval to take the Certification Exam in January for Therapeutic Rec -- only a couple years after the Masters but at least I finally finished all the requirements.  Now I just have to pass!

I'd much rather be busy...I'm in famine right now...

Did you get exercises to do before surgery? Doing them now will help big-time later...

Whew!  I'm worn out just reading your post.  You certainly do have quite a bit going on in your life.  I admire the way you plow through it all though.  You are a remarkable young woman.

I'm sure your presentations will be excellently.  If having your family there is unnerving for you, just pretend they are really old students (as in they were held back many, many times:-)

Good luck with your surgery.  I hope all goes well and your recuperation is a breeze.

I hate to think of what the piano guy said to you...

However, the "Golden Idol" sounds like a hoot!!

And a general, "whoa!" to your feast!  LOL at your zombie Halloween costume.  You know what I really hate is when I have those no sleep zombie days and know I must look dead but then no one mentions how terrible I look and it makes me wonder if I just look that terrible all the  time and no one notices...!!  = )

I am like you; I'm not quite happy either in feast nor famine.  I guess I do a little better in feast mode, as long as I am getting enough sleep.  I might complain, but I think it's better for me emotionally than famine.  (I love my time alone but balance is the key.)

Good luck in your presentations-I think I'd be the same way with family members and even friends.  When I went back to school a few years ago to finish my degree (oh, and by the way, it's getting it done that counts not how long it took! re: your therapeutic rec cert.) I had to do a presentation for a behav mod project on myself and I tried to practice with friends and I just couldn't do it.  Had to practice on another classmate while working out (distraction!)

Best of luck with your surgery!
