i listened partly to bush talk this morning as i was getting ready. he said this stimulus should help the economy and eventually help the gas prices come down. i listened 1/2 ass, literally, and that was the gist of what i got.
first of all, WHO CONTROLS THE OIL BARRELL PRICES?
2nd--WHY THE HECK ISN'T CONGRESS DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT?
3rd--WHY THE HELL AM I READING DAY IN AND DAY OUT THAT SHELL, MOBILE, ARCO, ALL THE GAS OWNERS POSTING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN EARNINGS???
4th--it cost me $89 to fill my tank and it made me sick to my stomach. the most i had ever put in was $40 for premium a couple of yrs ago.
how are people surviving this? even going to pick up my son from school outside the carpool has diminished. he has to stay until 4:30 or 5 when the other boys are done with their sport to get a ride home. i drive once a week and wait for all the boys too. it's brutal.

Message: The only thing to truly understand is PROFIT. The oil companies are getting it, while screwing the little guy to the wall.
America is the most materialistic country on the planet. And those who have THE MOST OIL.... wins. Pretty simple. A big ol beotch! - but simple.
Carmen, I am no oil expert, either...but you don't have to be a brain surgeon to see that record profits for the oil and gas company with simultaneous record high gas prices means SOMEONE IS CHEATING!!!
The other day I was listening to the pompous Bill O'Reiley spouting off about SUVs. Apparently if I would "trade my SUV in on an economy car" it would solve all of my problems. Well, maybe in millionare land that is true. In my world, though, my SUV is paid off, with a very low blue book trade in value...and we aren't in the position to buy a car/take on a car payment (thanks to the daily increasing cost of lving!! A year ago a new car payment would have been doable for us). And, it will be a cold day in you-know where before I pile my four kids into a Yugo just to save money at the pump. There are toomany psycho drivers on the road, I want my kids in a GOOD car, which isn't cheap.
It's ridiuclous that those in millionare land, many who have never had a real job (like Bush) think they can give ME advice.
You have it all wrong!!!! That huge check you are getting? It's going to solve all of your problems. The extra cost for gas? Solved! The extra cost for price-spiked groceries? Solved!!!

Message: All I can add is that it's a depressing mess. I thought our government was supposed to help us. And I am not trying to start a political discussion but in my opinion Mr. Bush just doesn't get it. He is out of touch with all of us. The production of alternative fuels is a big bust.

Message: I can't answer your questions, Carmen. But I am with you. I have to fill up about every 6 days because of the amount I drive for my job. I have to fill up tomorrow, and it will probably be $65. The rise in oil prices are affecting all countries, not just ours. I don't know what the fix is going to be. The production of alternative fuels is not only raising food prices around the world, but the process of producing these fuels is proving more of a pollutant than just using good ole gasoline.
Be on the lookout for gas theives too, at the gas station. Do not leave your car unattended. People are taking the hoses out of other people's car and filling up their own while the idiot car owner is inside getting a slurpie.
