These were taken around 17 Mile Drive and Point Lobos in the Carmel area. The squirrel was tame and looking for a handout; that seemed to be the case with quite a few birds and squirrels around the area. This guy, in particular, was a real ham in front of the cameras.

This next one just absolutely amazed us. We went hiking through Point Lobos. Bambi spotted us as we stood on a big rock near the cliffs and he ran right up as though to join us except that he hadn't mastered rock-walking yet. So Bambi stopped at the bottom of the rock. As he stood just a couple of feet from us we saw his mother approaching. We thought we were in for some aggression but instead, Mom just walked over, took a look at us, and licked him on the head. Bambi nursed for a while as Mom took in the pretty views. They actually walked alongside us at a distance of about 10-12 feet away as we made our way down the trail. How enchanting!
