Topic: Sorry to bug you guys again, Okay, Red dress, or the Black??

Topic Posted by: Lisa P

Additional Comments: I love my husband, but he is going to do me in. So, tonight he leaves work early to pick me up a bunch of sick meds. I had told him I thought it would be fun to wear red around the holidays. He remembered this red dress I also liked. So, he picked this up on the way home from work. Now I have two dresses and I to be honest I feel so sick that I honestly don't know which one I like better. I just feel blah. I guess they both have their good and bad. I know, I know, the hose need to go. I am cold so I just put them on. It's only 49 degrees here. So, red or black? I told hubby let's figure this out and return the one we are not going to keep.

I'm going to have to go with the red.  The black looks great on you too (is there any clothing out there that doesn't look good on you?), but there's just something about the red.

they come in "tones" as in skin tones. basically the hose make your legs look nude but PERFECT! they are a little pricey but so pretty.

Try the red one in the right size (without black hose) if you like that one better.  So far I like the black one better. But there's something about the tank top sleeves part of it that's a bit blah to me.  Not like a strappy top.  But ya know if your hubby loves it I'd got with it just for him!  And you look fab in either one, don't misunderstand me.

Just to confound you,  what I really like is the silver one you wore before.  I'd wear that one again and spend the $$ on a beautiful wrap and some fab shoes to go with.

  • Awww, thanks for your help. That silver one I sold on Ebay. That was was not comfy like this black one, because it was not fully lined. So, I got rid of it. Lisa P

Apparently Mr P is a leg man. He keeps picking out short dresses for you. LOL.

I like the red one better, but I don't like the bumpy thing on the butt though.  I vote for nude hose (Donna Karan) and as high of heels as you can bear to walk in.  Chris can thank me later.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Thanks Sparky. Actually Chris is a rear man. Lucky for me as I don't have much in the chest area :-) I agree the black hose need to go on the red. The red dress is designed to be ripple like. It is a size too big and it may not ripple as much in the right size. However, I think the ripples in the butt will be there as they are all over the dress. Lisa P

    Hi Lisa--
I'd go for the black (w/black hose...too short to go without). I think it's more formal and festive. Of course, I'm a sucker for black clothes...a friend once asked me if I was in mourning, lol.
Anyway, you do look great in both. :)

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • That is the bummer about the black one is it NEEDS hose. It is WAY too short to go without. The red one I would not wear any hose. I have never worn hose to Vegas in any of my past dresses and this red one is long enough you don't need them. Lisa P

The red looks really nice againsy your complexion, but I like the black better with those hose...they seem to dark for that dress.  Maybe a sheerer hose with the red dress?

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • If I ened up wearing the red dress I'll go without hose. It's long enough and my legs have an olive complexion. I usually don't wear hose to Vegas and with the red dress I think it would look better without it. Thanks for your help. Lisa P
  • In that case...then go with the red. I love red...and you're my birthday buddy btw ;-) ~~misspm
  • Oh another NYE baby :-) You don't run into us very often. Yeah, I figure as long as I can get away without nylons why not? I mean, some day my legs will have all of those ugly things in them that we get when we age. Then, all I'll want to do is cover them. LOL!!! Lisa P
  • Exactly. My legs are olive toned too, and I never wear hose if I can help it! ~~misspm

I definitely like the look of the black one better.  The red one bunches up too much (especially the side view) and looks lumpy, making it look like it doesn't fit.  It looks like it would keep riding up and you would have to constantly tug and pull at it to keep it in the right place.  The color is nice though.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • You have a good eye. The red dress I actually need in a size smaller. However, it still may bunch as that is part of the style. Will it bunch as much? I don't know. I have to go try it on when I feel better. It does not ride up at all though. Surprisingly it fits very comfy where as the black on is so short it makes me want to put at it. Lisa P
  • Yes, I think I would like it better if it fit better. As it is, it looks too big in all of the ''B'' areas (Boobs, Back, Belly, and Butt). Show us again in the right size with the right hose when you feel better. / Schoono.

You look great in either.  I'm slightly partial to the red one.  Which one feels the most comfortable, makes you feel the sexiest?  When you think about ringing in the new year, which one do you picure yourself in?

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Right now with the H1N1 nothing is making me feel sexy. However, both dresses were on sale now so hubby snatched them up. I have 30 days to figure it out. I plan to try them both on again when I feel better and I will try the red one without hose and see how they both look. Thanks. :-) Lisa P

  • I should have added in the beginning the red one is a size too big. I plan on trying on the smaller size and see if it fits a bit better, but that rippled look is part of the dress. Lisa P

You know ususally I am all about the red dress because it makes one stand out in the usual sea of black, but I do not like the way the red dress has those folds of material, especially in the butt area.  Now I know you are trim so its not as much of issue for you as compared to us gals that have more junk in the trunk, but of the 2 pictured I'd choose the black one

Can you find a red one in a different style, or does the black dress also come in red?

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • The black one only comes in black. The red one is one size too big. It may look less ripple like in a size down. Lisa P

I am a believer that you only live once (as far as I know) and Vegas on New Years Eve? Go for the red! It does show off your figure but speaking from experience your figure will change and your age will too and then it will be too late for that red dress. You have plenty of time for black. And due to the fact I owe Chris for going to the post office, he deserves to see you in the red dress! :)

Well to frustrate you more...lol....I'm not crazy about the red dress (the way it's made) but...the color looks GREAT on you, so much better than the black, and it shows off your figure better than the black one.  But it seems that your husband is really stuck on the black sequins. Hey, if you could find a RED form fitting sequined dress, you'd find the perfect dress LOL

Lisa, I don't know if I have seen all dress posts.  I like the red better on than the pic you posted, but still think I vote black.  The thing I have always hated about red, is that sometimes I don't like the way it looks with black hose.  I think can look too vampy or hooker-ish! But that IMHO,  Will be interested to see what everyone else says.  Hope you feel better & sorry so sick.  It made the rounds here....not fun.  (hugs)

  • Funny you should say that, because while I do not agree with everything that is on the Oprah show they did say to not wear black hose with red. They mentioned lighter colors and even brown. So, like I said, I would not do the black, but I am freezing and it is the only color I have. I agree too vampy :-)) Thanks for your help. Lisa P
